I'm sure this has been done a thousand times over but wondering what you all did for teething pain. DS is 9 mos and hasn't cut a tooth yet but is seemingly in terrible pain. He was STTN for weeks but was up nearly all night the last two nights. I've given Tylenol and it works temporarily. His ped says he doesn't like giving Mortrin bc it's stronger and more long term kidney implication. I just feel bad for the poor lil guy!!

I've had a Baltic amber bracelet on dd since 3 months and a necklace since a year maybe. I think it makes a big diff. BUT on that very rare bad night, infant Motrin takes the edge off. It's so so rare we use it

Personally I gave Motrin. I was unaware of any kidney implication and I would wonder how much you have to give your child to cause a kidney implication? Does your child have any pre exisiting conditions that the MD is concerned about?
My Dr is extremely conservative and always offers natural remedies to cure many ailments and he suggested Motrin especially for teething pain because its an anti-inflammatory. Tylenol is not. Tylenol did not work for my dd. Motrin was the only thing that helped her.
BUT anytime she was teething it always affected her sleep until the tooth broke through.

ETA: After looking it up, it affects a premature baby after 7 days of use. It affected the way the kidneys filters the blood.
ANd for long term effects on the kidneys you would have to give it to a child every single day all day for 3 years, as well as adults. Adults its 6-8 pills a day for 3 years.

Id give Motrin. However that's not magic sometimes either. Lol. My DD has been teething and cutting teeth since 4M and sleeping horribly even with Motrin. I'm just waiting for her to get her main ones (she's cutting 4 at once on top) and move on and sleep!!
