I think Jenelles mom has to be a nagging PIA b/c Jennelle acts like she has no responsibility. Shes supposed to "babysit" her son and says she found a reason to stay out all night so she is hungover the next day. Her mother is probably at her witts end with her and can't do anything else but yell. I don't know if I would be able to have patience with her, I would probably be a lunatic around her as well.
I think it goes both ways.
(Pre-custody) Her watching Jace & then nagging her daughter about coming home late gave Janelle a pass on parenting. I think the best thing she could have done is tell Janelle if she wants to have this baby, it is her sole responsibility & allow her to live in the house, pay for food but the entire responsibility is hers. Otherwise, she should consider putting the baby up for adoption.
Janelle's mom seeking custody didn't help her feel more responsible. In fact, it excused her from being a parent. It sounds like she was trying the "tough love" approach but wound up resenting the outcome that she wound up with.
In the end, the only one who is suffering is going to be Jace. I suspect telling your daughter what a POS she is in front of the baby won't stop when that baby can understand.

I love when Janelle's mom says, "You're not watching Jace this morning, you're hungover!" and Janelle says, "I'm not hungover mom! I'm just tired, I have a headache and I feel like I am going to throw up!" Ummmm, wtfff does she think a hang over is????
