Team Green here, starting to cave!
I wasn't Team Green with DS and we decided to be Team Green this time, as this MAY be my last baby and I really wanted the surprise MORE than I wanted to know the sex.
But the past few days I am starting to cave!
The BIGGEST (and I feel so selfish) reason is I am a BIG TIME planner. I actually started a registry (for myself) and was overwhelmed b/c the store didn't have gender neutral bottles in stock, they had blue and pink.
Also, we're house hunting (have a an offer on a house) and could possibly be moving before the baby is born. I'd want to paint before moving in - and I know myself, I won't be okay with a neutral color.
I have another sono on Wednesday and MAY find out . . . if DH can come along, I have feeling I will cave . . .

I always thought people who were on Team Green were crazy... I was dying to know when we first got our BFP.

Re: Team Green here, starting to cave!
I felt the same exact way as you in the beginning of this pregnancy (#2 for us). We knew we were having a boy the first time and I am a BIG planner but I thought i'd be able to hold out for the surprise this time.
We showed up to the 20 week sono and I caved! I couldn't answer no when the tech asked if we wanted to find out, it was too much for my planning heart to take, lol!
Good luck!

Re: Team Green here, starting to cave!
I was team green with my first and will be team green with this one. The moment they tell you boy or girl is indescribable. I chose not the first time around because my husband really wanted to be the one to walk into the waiting room and tell everyone it's a... . I was on the fence because I didn't want to miss that moment. We decided he would tape it. It's perfect!! Seriously, the best moment. It also kept my crazy planning in check. I couldn't go overboard and plan every single thing, which was a nice change for my over planner. We knew we'd have more kids so keeping things gender neutral was really important for us. If you can hold out do it! It's really a great moment.
ETA: AS far as painting. I actually painted the room light blue and had a bedding set picked for each gender that would go. There is totally a way to decorate without going the total green or yellow route.

Re: Team Green here, starting to cave!
I was team green with DD, except I was just convinced she was a girl from day 1. When she came out and the dr said "It's a girl!" I was just like "Yeah, already knew that". It was so anticlimactic that it annoyed me that we had waited but DH is very insistent on not finding out. I guess if it's worth it to him then it's not the end of the world to me. There are bigger things in life than having a pink or blue nursery, or at least that's what I tell myself.
To compensate a bit I'm planning to go all out girly with DD's "big girl" room and the baby will go into her gender neutral nursery.

We chose to find out because I'm a big planner too and I couldn't imagine trying to get things ready for the baby without knowing. In my opinion, it's a great surprise whether you find out at the sono or when your baby is born. It's just a matter of when you get the surprise, KWIM? And there's still the amazing surprise of getting to see your LO for the first time and hold him or her, so DH and I don't feel like we missed out on anything by finding out ahead of time.

See this is one reason I was SO for Team Green. The excitement of sharing the announcement with everyone in the waiting room.
But the reality is I know there will onyl be 2-3 ppl there (FIL & MIL and MAYBE my aunt). My mom and dad live OOS, both sets of SILs&BILs work full time as does my brother.
I'm having a scheduled c/s, so it's not like I don't know when I'll have the baby. And pretty likely it will be during the weekday (it was with DS - only MIL & FIL at first.)

I know eErin, however in my mind I imagine DH walking out & sharing the news with everyone. Meanwhile the reality is "everyone" will only be MIL & FIL and I know the reaction won't be anywhere NEAR my expectations.
I don't want ro set myself up for disappointment.

Totes agree... I sobbed when they typed out on the sono screen: Hi Mom and Dad... I am your son. It was THE MOST amazing and emotional day in my entire pregnancy and I do not regret it ONE BIT. In fact, I am so so so so happy we did it. Either way, you will be surprised at some point and nothing can take away from meeting your baby the first time. (Well I haven't met mine yet but you know what I mean!! I can't imagine thinking ehhh I already know he's a boy so where's the excitement? Lol I still have no idea what he will look like, WHO he will look like, how he will be, etc...)

I ended up with a c-section after a failed induction. DH was the one who told me we had a son. I can't even begin to describe how amazing that moment was. He was the one to tell my parents, who were the only ones in the waiting room. DH also told all of our friends and family either by phone or text.
This time, I will likely end up with a scheduled c-section. I hope to have a similar delivery room moment. I don't care about making an announcement except I would like to be the one to announce the news to DS.

Re: Team Green here, starting to cave!
Team Green and tempted to cave here too!
I had a sono last week and was asked for the first time if I wanted to know the sex. I said a firm no. A few minutes later I asked the tech if she could already see the sex. She confirmed she knew the gender, and told me that the baby was showing her everything.
From that moment on it's been KILLING me.
I'm suddenly focused on how much easier the nursery planning would be and all the cute outfits I could get in advance and what a huge stress relief it would be to focus on names for only one gender...
But then I remember how few surprises there are in life. And how I want that cliche moment where the the doctor yells out, "It's a ....!" I want my husband and I to feel the joy and beauty of that moment. And I want my husband to then have the experience of running to tell our families the news. And I want our families to then have the experience of hearing that news from my husband on the day our child is born.
I know finding out at any point is special, but the way I see it in my daydreams is always in the delivery room. Plus, I kind of like the wondering and imagining life with a son one minute and then a daughter the next.
Stay strong!

ita...i say to each their own and i have to admit i get kinda peeved when i hear omg u have to be team green it is the best surprise ever
for some it may be,but for some it is just a s special in the sono room or at the gender reveal
i say do what u feel in your heart and do not let anyone influence u either way...it is an amazing experience either way bc bottom line u have a baby whether u knew the sex before or after

Re: Team Green here, starting to cave!
I am due with my third team green baby. I love being in the delivery room and my dh getting to tell me what the baby is. I love the wondering if it's a boy or girl throughout the pregnancy. With ds I just knew he was a boy and I was right. With dd same I knew she was a girl. With this one I just keep going back and forth. there are times that I thought about finding out but I love finding out right in the delivery room and then being able to hold my son or daughter. It is instant gratification.

Re: Team Green here, starting to cave!
I have decided to find out. I don't see it as caving, but rather making a smart decision.
I know that my expectation of the announcement after delivery will not be met. I know I will be emotionally fragile (having a history of PPD) and I don't want to set myself up for disappointment.
Just talked to DH and he is going to go to work late (he's working nights the next 2 wks) so he, DS and I can all find out together! I'm excited about that!!!

Re: Team Green here, starting to cave!
you haveto do what is best for you.. i am team green, adn would love to know at this point for certain. We have made it so far, and i am almost there.. If baby happened tospread its legs on sono, i wouldnt be totally upset, but doesnt seem to be happeneing and i always did imagine it being announced in the delivery room..Either way, it is all good, and you need to do what is best for you and your family.
