Tax Time!!
How do you do your taxes?
if you prepare your own, what software do you use?
i use turbotax, but I am wondering if I am missing deductions...

Being that this is our first year in our home, we're looking to go to an accountant.
ETA: In years past, we've done it ourselves.

We use an accountant. While our taxes are fairly simple, Turbo Tax screwed us up a few times.

i am not a cpa, because i have not passed the exam but i am an accountant in accounting firm and do my least painful relatives tax returns.

I go to the CPA. We just dropped some stuff off last week for him to start with the paperwork, so he can estimate it and see if we might owe $ this yr. last yr. we owed, this yr. we might not.

DH's uncle is a CPA...so he does them for free for us...he also does my parents and he charges a small fee.

Last year we did it ourselves but this year since we just bought a house we are going to have a friend of the family do it since he is a CPA. I am sure he will charge a small fee, if anything.

My Dad used to do them for me (he's retired IRS-CID).
Now DH and I have an accountant, but mostly because of DH's businesses and expenses.

We file seperately. DH uses a CPA out in Pt. Jeff. Station. I use the H&R Block software and do it myself.

My dad did them for me while I was single. I think this year, we will go to DH's accountant. DH is a CPA but he would prefer someone else to look over them.
