talk to me about traveling w/ 8 month old

OK...so let me start by saying I'm a huge worrier..I worry about things beforehand that sometimes it just ruins it..so I am not sure If am doing that now...

Ok...so DH is getting a trip to Denver through his work...all coworkers going etc. I also get to go but we have to pay for my flight. So it's not totally free...
We have our son who will be 8 months at that point. The whole trip sounds extremely overwhelming to me.
4 1/2 hour plane ride in which we really don't get to pick when we fly..the company does. that in itself scares me.
Hotel...we are going to downtown denver. What the heck are we going to do in denver? we'll have to rent a car I guess cause we need to bring a car seat.
How do you sight see and stuff during the day w/ a baby? With naps and stuff...and breast feeding???
Dinners? they offer babysitting a few nights but do I leave my 8 month old with strangers? I"m home w/ him all day so he will be totally scared I feel like!

Help...any experience? thoughts?

Re: talk to me about traveling w/ 8 month old

I drove with AJ at 9m

she slept for 2hrs clips and was happy still for 3hrs or more. But she strapped in her car seat.

So flying would have been easier to have her in my lap. At least I could walk around then. I think youre ok there.

I would rent a carseat but thats me. Take yours if you like.

Hotel, what to do? Well take the baby for a walk, stroll around the grounds, find out if there's a park near by or a mall if its cold.

Babysitting. Nope I'm sorry I wouldn't do it. I'm strange like that, I guess. Not because she'd be scared but because I'm possessive!

Re: talk to me about traveling w/ 8 month old

I think I would pass. And I alway am one to say just go for it!
DH goes on a trip to San Fran every July, ON OUR ANNIVERSARY. We have spent only one anniversary together so far. I could go with the kids(its only a 100 trip for each of us from LA plus free hotel), I could sight-see with them every day in an easy to get around city(much like Denver) and yet, I don't bother. They go to great dinners every night but would NOT feel comfortable leaving the kids with someone I don't know so I could join them so we would have to dinner on our own.

I would tell you DH to go, have fun and enjoy his trip with this co-workers and use the money you would spend on your flight for a nice girls getaway for the night.

Re: talk to me about traveling w/ 8 month old

we are kind of in the same boat- I have a conference in Florida in September and dh is thinking of coming and bringing our ds- who will be 10 months at that time- I am super worried about the flight, feeding him, what we'll do

I was actually thinking of bringing my mil to help out but then thats more $$

so we may skip this year as well
