Talk to me about going to the city with a 6 month old

DH and I are thinking about going to the city today to see the tree with our 6 month old DS. Any tips??

We want to go to times square, to the toys r us store, Macys, get an early dinner and then to the tree. We plan to leave around 1....get there by 2. We dont plan on staying TOO late. just want to be there when it gets dark to see the lights.

What do you suggest....drive or take train? (even if we drive we will have to take the train from times suare to the tree which is fine).

Are there ample places to change DS?? Feed him? (I am nursing) I figured maybe I should open his City Mini stroller and take that instead of the snap and go b/c it lays flat so I could always change him in there while we are in a store.


I don't have a bundle me...I plan to dress him in a fleece bunting type outfit whith a hat and blanket. Do you think he will be warm enough?? High today says 36, low for the evening is supposed to be 33.

Any tips would be appreciated! If it wasn't so cold out I wouldn't worry, (we've been to the city in the summer) but having to find places to feed him and change him indoors in the city makes things more difficult!

we went last year with an almost 3 month old

as fars as nursing - we would just stop in any bar and grab a seat - my father will always drink a beer - and i would nurse with my cover and have soda
- other option is a changing room at a clothing store

we took the car seat and snap and go because we had the bubdle me - i still put another blanket on top of him but - no snow suit- i would layer him up if you can - i remember dressing my guy in a long sleeve onsie and sweater - so with a snowsuit he should be fine - i would hust bring an extra blanket just in case

as far a changing him - try and do it while you are at toys rus or bigger public restrooms - the mall down stairs from the tree has large bathrooms and should have a spot to change him - also there are just tables down stairs - which woul be a quieter place to nurse - i had to chabnge my son on the floor because the restaurant we wnt to did not have a changing station - so if you have the disposable changign sheets - i would bbring one or two to put under your changing bad

I find driving easier because if I sense a meltdown we can get in the car and go rather than being a slave to the train schedule. Plus lugging a stroller on the train and up and down stairs is a PITA.

I'd bring the City Mini because I always prefer changing my kids in there rather than a yucky Times Square bathroom. I always bring my bigger stroller bc I feel like they're more protected in there in crowds.

we drove in last week with our 7 month old son to see the tree. we took our city select with the toddler bundle me and it was great. i went in to jcrew which is right next to the tree...grabbed something so it looked like i was trying on and fed and changed him in the fitting room. it was clean and relatively quiet. i'd also rec'd driving in and not taking the train. he was able to sleep and be omfortable and we didn't have to be on a schedule.

So fun enjoy! We are going to bring C and R on the 21st. We brought R last year and it wa sooooo much fun!
