Talk to me about strep
My 2 1/2 yo DS has it for the first time. He has had a high fever since Wednesday night, sometimes over 103 and even since starting amoxicillin early Thursday morning. This afternoon the doc switched him to omnicef which is supposed to be stronger because he still had a high fever. He doesn't typically get fever over 102.5 so I am a bit concerned. And he's had a bunch of illnesses in the past, coxsackie, bronchitis, mono, fever viruses, etc. Just wondering what others have experienced with strep in toddlers. How high was the fever and for how long? And how long did it take to see an improvement after starying antibiotics? What other symptoms? TIA

Talk to me about strep
DD has had strep so many times since she was little...I've lost count (she is 13 years old) typically her fever is gone within 24 hours of starting the antibiotic, but a few times its been a little longer. Omnicef is typically what she is on as she is allergic to penicillin so she can't take any of them.
The most important thing is to make sure they stay hydrated especially with the fever. Ice pops are great because they kill two birds with one stone by soothing and hydrating.
Hope he feels better soon!!!
