Talk to me about nursing bras!

How do I know what to get? What size should I buy? Should it be something a bit bigger than what fits me now because I am going to get bigger? Is one brand better than another? I am not rockefellar so whats a good, less expensive brand and where did you find it? Plan on going tonight after work. Since my due date is wednesday I figure I should finish my shopping. lol nothing like waiting until the last minute! TIA

Re: Talk to me about nursing bras!

I would actually wait on buying bras until after your milk comes in. After the initial few days when your boobs are HUGE, they will settle down to what size they are going to be. For some women, that's a size or 2 bigger than normal, for some, it's no change at all. So my suggestion would be to start out with a few nursing tanks, because they just come in S, M, L, etc. And they are super comfy. I lived in those for the first few days/weeks and they are great for the hospital too. Target makes really comfy, easy to use, and cheap ones! Then, figure out what size you will need in bras and go out and buy some. HTH!

A friend recommended the Gilligan Omally nursing tanks at Target. She preferred them over nursing bras since they keep your belly covered. She said they're a bit thin but with a nursing pad it's not a problem.

I didn't love the Target nursing bras, but loved the tank tops. I never really found a nursing bra that I loved. I mainly lived in the Target nursing tank tops, especially during my maternity leave.

I've heard good things about Bravado nursing bras. They're pricey, but supposedly offer really good support. If you buy nursing bras now, I'd go up at least 1 cup size from what you're currently wearing.

Re: Talk to me about nursing bras!

I have this bra. It's Anita. I went to Nordstrom and was fitted and bought it there. It's a bit pricey. But, BTDT twice, this is the most supportive and flattering nursing bra that I have found. And I have tried MANY. I have Bravado, Elle Macpherson, Medela, target....and more I can't think of.

My suggestion is to get a few Target nursing tanks to start. Then, go to the store and get fitted and invest in a good, supportive bra. Get some soft comfy ones for around the house.

But I HIGHLY recommend the Anita bra.

BTW....when I was fitted, I was a 34F. Chat Icon I never would have guessed that on my own.

If you can get there,I recommend going to Georgette's in Hicksville so you can be properly fitted. I did it with DD and the bras fit so much better than if I had chosen them on my own. Believe me, when those suckers are full of milk, they need a lot of support!!

Re: Talk to me about nursing bras!

I like the nursing bras at Target. Gilligan was one brand I liked and I forget the other. I bought 2-3 before I had my DD, plus nursing tanks at Target, and then bought some more after.

You will be bigger, so you might want to wait to buy more after to see.

Some of them come in S, M, L so I bought large.

Some I bought and wound up needing a bigger size.

EDIT: Bravado was the other type I wear. I like them

I also really like the Target nursing bras. There also very reasonably priced. If your close to the end maybe by 2 sizes and return one after?

Bought these last night... Um... weird but I feel like I wasnt wearing it correctly. Almost like I had 4 boobs? That extra piece inside sits weird. Any opinions or advice?
