Talk to me about getting my tubes tied!! Updated
I am due in February with baby 4. I know for sure this is my last. I have not had any c-sections, so not sure if this one will be. How do they do it otherwise? Do they do it while I'm in the hospital still? I go to the Dr on Monday, so of course I'll ask.
Just wondering if you've had it done, what was your experience?
ETA: Just wanted to share what my ob told me today for anyone else who wants to know: The procedure would happen the day after giving birth, I will be put under for about 30 minutes and they go through a small incision in my belly button.

Re: Talk to me about getting my tubes tied!!
Little different but I had mine done during my 2nd and last c section. The recovery was no different from my diet c section (which doesn't help you I know but I have nothing else to compare it to). They probably wouldn't do it until you are healed from your last baby. Good luck

Re: Talk to me about getting my tubes tied!!
I believe you have to wait until at least your 6 week PP check up to discuss and book it. I doubt they will do.it right after a v birth. You need to heal and everything has to shrink back to normal. Plus you probably don't want to have any surgery before going home with a newborn unless absolutely necessary I believe its done as ambulatory surgery and you would go home the same day barring any iasues

Thank you for the responses.
I am very nervous about the whole thing, but I know I am done. I guess I will talk to my new doctor tomorrow!

Wow I'm surprised it's done the next day. I'm not a doctor at all lol but I would thing you'd want to heal a bit. Good luck!

Is there a reason you are going this route instead of having DH get snipped? just curious since its a much easier procedure for them.

No reason really, but it would take a lot of convincing for him to do it. From what the Dr told me today, the procedure is very quick and simple now.

I know for a fact my DH would never do it. It doesn't matter how simple it is, he has major medical anxiety and any talk of people getting vasectomies he gets anxious. I couldn't force him to do it. I wouldn't mind having my tubes tied to be honest. It's a pretty simple procedure now a days as well. A friend of ours had a vasectomy and his recovery wasn't all that great to be honest.

Me too! Interesting. At least you will get it all over with in one hospital stay and not have to go back while you have a new baby at home. Good luck!

My DH is similar. He hates needles and would never undergo surgery unless it was absolutely necessary.
I have the option of tying my remaining tube during my c-section next week, but I don't want to do anything permanent yet. I'm 99% sure we're done. My OB mentioned that I could do it laparoscopically in a few years if I want.
