Talk to me about electric stoves

I've never had one before so I don't know what to expect. If we take the place we love, it will have an electric stove. We're renting so we can't replace it. Do electric stoves really run up the electric bill? Do they require any special treatment?

I was always use to gas....I had one growing up at my parent's house, then in our apt where we rented for 5+ yrs.
Now we have electric and it took a little while to get use to.
I LOVE the fact that it's so easy to clean (ceramic top) and I love that is takes a few mins to get a large pot of water to boil.
The downside is sometimes it gets too hot too fast and hard to regulate temperature.
We don't see a huge difference in our electric bill and I cook pretty much every night except for sometimes one or two nights per week.

Overall it might take some getting use to but no special treatment involved really!

i also love the clean up!! cannot beat this. when i had gas, i hated cleaning each grill. electric does cook differently though...but you get used to it. My electricity bill is not majorly affected by the stove.
