Talk to me about eczema.....

Anyone have experience with it? I know its super common. DD is 4 months old and has a few large, scaly red patches on her belly, right along her diaper line. I've recently bought the Aveeno Eczema Therapy cream, but it doesn't seem to be making much of a difference. Despite not changing anything (laundry detergent, body wash, etc.) the eczema seemed to come out of no where. We already bathe her in super gentle stuff (usually baby cetaphil or the baby eucerin wash -- same makers as aquaphor) and I try to keep the bath on the cooler side, as I read that warmer water aggravates it. Anything you did/used that helped with the patches? I have a dermatologist appointment for her next week if it doesn't improve. Thanks!

Talk to me about eczema.....

My son had really bad eczema. We tried everything. It was not until that we brought him to a dermatologist and she prescribed a cream and oil that there was relief. She also told us to only use unscented Dove soap and nothing else (on his scalp and hair as well). That really has worked and now he gets a flare up every once and a while but throw a little cream and oil on it and it is great.

When my son had it we started using CeraVe as per our ped's recommendation and it seemed to help a lot.

Talk to me about eczema.....

DS had bad exzema in the winter the Drs assured me it was seasonal. And for him yes it was seasonal. I started bathing him once a week with no wash cloth and with eucerin exzema relief.

Re: Talk to me about eczema.....

My ds has it behind his knees & elbows. The only thing that has helped him is a thin layer of hydrocortisone cream once every few days (I don't like to use it too often). Other than that, I give him oatmeal baths & use moisturizing lotions on it (cetaphil and sarna are the brands I've used). Hopefully it will eventually go away on its own.
