Talk to me about dreamfeeds

I keep hearing I should try dreamfeeds with DS. He's been falling asleep early (usually at 7pm, thought tonight at 6pm b/c of daylight savings) which means he wakes up early for his first night feed. Should I try a dreamfeed to try to extend that first waking? I already feed him in a dark room without any talking or noise (aside from white noise) but I feel like that'd wake him up. Worth a shot anyway?

My ped recommended dream feeding DD. I know it can be controversial. I don't remember exactly when we started, but it did get her to sleep from midnight to 5, and then 6. She went to bed later though, after 8. We were still dream feeding until almost 8 months, but that was for caloric reasons, since DD is a terrible drinker. I think it's worth a shot for you,

i just did a dreamfeed. dd was teething all day and only drank 20oz. i don't do it all the time, only if she really had a low intake for the day and i want her to be fuller to sleep longer.

DD tends to fall asleep around 630-730 also but she tends to do a 6 hour stretch for her first stretch of the night. She tends to wake around 1, then 5 which isn't too bad.

Any reason you don't want him waking? Is it hard for him to go back down? How old is he?

We give DD a dream feed at 11pm, but don't do it by the book in terms if keeping her asleep through it. We wake her up at 11pm and feed her like normal feeds (change diaper, burp her, turn lights on). We then put her down at 11:45 and she sleeps through to 7am.

We do it for caloric reasons, but also appreciate the benefit if no overnight feeds.
