Taking a nap when kid(s) are playing?

I feel so terrible, but sometimes I just conk out on the couch these days for 20 minutes while DS is playing on floor. DH will be at work. It's a light sleep, and I try all I can not too, but this pregnancy is knocking me out.

have you done this?

am i overreacting and this isn't the worst thing to do?

at what age can you take a brief nap and let them play near you?

I got pregnant when DD was 10 months old. I was awful sick for the first 18 weeks and could barely keep my eyes open half the time. I used to lie down on the couch in the playroom, make sure the gate was closed and let her play while I dozed on and off.

Um, I posted last year when i was pregnant about waking up to Ava climbing me like a mountain one day after work and I had no idea!!! Apparently she had been climbing me and sliding down like an amusement park ride for like 20 minutes before I realized!
Trust me, she survived and I needed the rest AND it wasn't the last time it happened

I do it. Guilty. Somehow I think its not really napping, and I can still hear them..

Yup!! I block off the living room so they can't go anywhere. I put on the TV and doze off for a few if I need it.

DH and I were just dozing off on the couch while they were playing around us. I thought it would be nice if one of us maybe kept our eyes open. He said "he's listening"

I couldnt do it was scared, but when I was PG with the twins, I couldnt do it all day ( stay up!) ...so I would lock us in my bedroom with a bunch of toys on the bed and a movie on the DVD player in case I fell asleep ....A few times I did and it worked out great...Wish I could do that now with all 3!

DD is 4 and I do fall asleep many afternoons for approx. 20 minutes, but usually when she's next to me on the couch watching TV, during her "down time" (my substitution for her nap she gave up at 2.5) It took me awhile to convince her to stop waking me up though. I think I'd be ok with her playing in her playroom while I was dozing on the couch.

I would if I could...But DS is very loud when he is playing Sometimes...

I would if she ever shut up for more than 30 seconds at a time....

when I was pregnant with jessie...i would take josh up to my room, drag his train tracks in there, put him movie on and tell him to surprise me with a train. wake me if you have to pee or leave the room.

I would sleep for 2 hours a day! The kid is wonderful.

Now, Jessie's second nap is pretty much my nap too. She goes into her crib, josh comes into my room. He is addicted to his lincoln logs. Same rule, wake me to pee or leave the room.

I've done that all the time. As long as were in a room where i know it's child proofed you have that mommy like sleep where you know if something happened you would wake up, but if you have a child that can keep themselves entertained, go for it!
