Table foods question

just wondering if you introduce the same table food for 3-4 days like you would do with new baby food? or do you just give it once, and if they like it or not depends on if you choose to give it again.
TIA!

Re: Table foods question

I really only stuck with one food for 2-3 days. DD didn't care for anything much at first but yes I stuck with it. Their taste buds are just used to formula/milk so most fruits and veggies are a shock to their taste buds. Don't be surprised if your DC doesn't take to many foods at first.

Re: Table foods question

I was wondering the same thing....also say if you give mashed potatoes...would you give them totally plain or do w/ butter & then though that is 2 new foods.

Re: Table foods question

My DD was on mostly table foods after 1 years old. HOnestly, I didn't wait 2-3 days to introduce new foodsChat Icon

I wouldn't go crazy giving her new foods, but there's still a limited amount they can eat when they first start table foods and the majority of it they've had already-the soft foods-cheese, yogurt, cereals etc.

And yes, i'd give her mash pototoes with butter and milk, she's had pototoes(sweet pototo baby food, or the garden veggie babyfood has pototoes in it), and if she's had dairy, she'll be fine with butter and milk and there's so little of it the whole pot of prepared mashed.

Also it can take up to 15 times for a baby to actually "like" a new food, so just keep offering and if they dont' like it, try try again.Chat Icon

Re: Table foods question

DS is taking a bit longer to get used to table food than he did pureed food but I am just trying to stick with it.

Right now I am giving him sweet potatoes and pastina for dinner. With every bit he makes a face like it's the worst thing in the world...like peas Chat Icon Meanwhile he loves sweet potatoes and the pastina really doesn't have much flavor...so I am guessing it's a texture issue. I decided to just keep at it for a few days and see what happens before we take a break...he's actually starting to come around Chat Icon

To answer your question...it looks like we might be doing the 3 - 4 days so that he can get used to the texture and flavors...but not for allergic reactions like we did with the purees.
