Swing sets?

I would like to get a swing set for DS this year. Where did you get yours? How much was it? What questions should I ask when purchasing a swing set? I want something that will last a few years for dd too. Tia!

Re: Swing sets?

We are looking into swing sets too. Costco has reasonable ones that are good quality.

Re: Swing sets?

If you get one, make sure they can put it together. We bought ours at Wood Kingdom East and thankfully they installed it! I never would have been able to do it. They can be expensive but with a long warranty and delivery and installation it was worth it..

Re: Swing sets?

BJs usually runs specials where they install free. They are about $900-$1200 depending on what you want.

Re: Swing sets?

We got ours at Wood Kingdom. I think we bought it in February last year----when they were having clearance sales from the previous year. We got ours for 1/2 price and it was still $$$$. I went on a Sunday and it was installed in 2 hours that Thursday. 20 year warranty. PM me if you want the price (hate posting $ publicly).

Re: Swing sets?

We got ours from Costco last year LOVE it, we get alot of compliments even from friends who spend double what we did.

Ours was $1000 but the weekend DH went to get it it was on sale for $200 less.

Only negative you have to put it together yourself. TOok DH and FIL 2 full days.

BIL has one from costco from 10+ years ago and the kids still use it. Held up really well!

We got ours from Creative Playthings in Hauppauge. We also bought at the end of season clearance. I didn't think it was that much more expensive than ones at bjs/costco and their price included delivery and setup. The set is great!

Swing sets?

We got ours at Wood Kingdom. We just went last week. Purchased one of last years models they are trying to get rid of. It was more than 50% off, but still pricey. However, going the route we did, we got a lot for our money and ended up with a set that my DS will not grow out of anytime soon.

They are installing in 2 weeks.

This almost exactly. Got ours from Cosco last year onsale for $800. It's awesome and has so much to it. Kids love it, but it took DH about a day and a half to put it together.

Re: Swing sets?

We went with Wood Kingdom (in Farmingdale, I heard bad things about the one out east) after much research. We were between them and Creative Playings and in the end, it was really a toss up. I only leaned towards the Wood Kingdom set because it had a tire swing under the tower (which DD now loves).

You can definitely find sets at Costco/BJ's with more bells and whistles for much less BUT they often aren't made to hold as much weight as the more pricy sets and may not have as good warrantees. You really have to do your homework and weigh out what's more important to you.

I know the set we got is said to be able to hold a 250lb adult on the swings and 1000lb on the tower part. Some cheaper sets only held around 100lbs on the swings. I didn't want to have to tell my big pre-teen nephew that he wasn't allowed to swing on it or worry if an adult did at a party (which has already happened several times, so I'm glad we went with the stronger set)!

You can save a good amount if you have someone very handy who can put it together too.

Re: Swing sets?

We ordered a Gorilla playset almost 5 years from an online retailer and we purchased a set last year from Costco (in store set.) The Gorilla is way better quality compared to the one sold in-store at Costco.

(Our Gorilla set received minor damage during Sandy due to some large pine trees falling on it, so we purchased the Costco set to make a larger playset. )
