Surge - Opk help

DH & I have been trying for a few months now. I use OPK since I stopped bc to see when i'm ovulating because my cycles were long and are finally becoming more regularly.

I usually get 2 days of positive OPKs. Last month i had 1 day of a positive OPK. I've been expecting to ovulation any day now so I've been testing 2x a day just to catch my surge. I tested testerday morning, negative, tested again at 6pm positive... THIS morning? negative. I'm confused... Can I really only have a positive opk for half a day? If I didn't test last night I would have never saw the SMILEY face and would have freaked out all month thinking something is wrong and I didn't ovulate this cycle.

Every since I have 1-2 days worth of positives. Does a half a day positive opk normal?

I think that once you get a positive opk that you do not need to test anymore. Plus I believe you are supposed to test in the afternoon since first morning urine is usually not the best for OPKs since your LH surge usually begins in early morning when you are still sleeping and may not be apparent in your first morning urine.

That's not true. You can have an LH surge at any time of day. Also the FR smiley OPKs are designed to be used with FMU.

As for the OP's question...yes, it's possible to have a short surge. Also possible that other times you tested your urine was more diluted or something. I wouldn't stress about it as long as you saw a +OPK.

Thanks

I tested again this evening and I got a +opk so I guess my FMU was bad.
