Suggestions on how to find a babysitter

What worked for you? If you were able to get someone from DC's daycare how did you go about asking? I just need a babysitter one evening a week, I'm not looking for childcare, we have a daycare. Thanks for any suggestions you have.

I don't have experience with this, but I would just come out and ask at daycare. I bet there is someone looking to do it or they know of someone. Do you know any neighbors? Maybe they are willing to share their sitter that they trust...

thanks, we tried the neighbors they have in b/w kids so their children are not old enough to sit for but they're old enough that the neighbors don't have sitters for their kids.

I would try the daycare route then...ask the teachers or director.

Also, sometimes local colleges have offices that help students locate work - maybe try that?

You can call the local HS and ask the guidance office to recommend an honors student. Sometimes churches and temples will also recommend a sitter.

i agree with daycare...your dc knows them most likely and will be comfy with them....when we go out (which is rare but still) we have one of her teachers come!

Re: Suggestions on how to find a babysitter

we have numerous teachers at their daycare who babysit on the side. I think this is your best bet since there is an established relationship already.

Definitely ask the teachers at daycare. I just asked her teacher, "Do you babysit". then what is your rate. She was in my budget, so I ask her to babysit when I need someone.

If she isn't available, she'll find me another teacher from the school who is. Since they all teach there, I feel very confident about having them babysit- especially since we usually put DD to bed ourselves.

Do you belong to a church? Their outreach program might have a list.
A lot of libraries have babysitting classes for teenagers, they might have a list.
