suggestions for a day trip with DS please
DH and I are taking off Wednesday next week and we want to take a nice little day trip with DS. Any suggestions on a place that will interest a 15 month old? TIA

Re: suggestions for a day trip with DS please
We took DS to the Staten Island Zoo... it was more like a little farm, but it blew his little mind at 16m.
It was perfect for a young toddler, and on a hot day, it was very shady and comfortable.
There are peacocks and turkey roaming free. There are tons of horses. Mules, donkeys, llamas were the biggest hit. You can buy little crackers to feed them and pet them.
There is an area where you can get right in with the farm animals (mules, goats, llamas, etc.). But DS was exhausted by then and so much more into the peacocks than anything. He stared for a long while at the horses too.
He was chanting peacock in his sleep that night. It was adorable to see him so excited.
Wed afternoons its free for the last 2 hours. We were leaving around that time and noticing it getting uncomfortably crowded.
The "zoo" is tiny, really for an adult there is not much to see there, you can do it in 1 hour. But for a child, everything is so exciting. We actually spent close to 4 hours there, and I think we could have spent more if DS would nap in the stroller.

We took the kids to the Riverhead aquarium last week and they had a great time. They loved all the fish, touching the sting rays and watching the show.

If you're looking to make a day of it you can do the aquarium AND The Animal Petting Zoo at Exit 69 as I dont think either one is long enough to do the whole day. DS had a ball in their huge sandbox and Little Tikes climbing things. I believe the pony rides are free. You can feed the pigs and get in with the sheep and goats. DS loved the llamas!

We took 16 month old DS to White Post Farms on Sunday and he had a blast!
Rode the train Rode a pony Bounced in the smallest bounce house (LOVED it) Ran around the mini houses Watched mommy feed the animals Helped mommy give a milk bottle to a goat Chillaxed in his stroller looking at the animals Ate lunch in the shade
A very nice day.
