Suffolk Pediatrics West Islip
Does anyone use them? DD had her 10 minth well visit and Dr discussed next appt will be the MMR and chicken pox. I asked him if they space out the vaccines or work with you regarding delaying them (not refusing). He was very firm about getting it done then at her 13 month visit. I'm not by any means refusing a vaccination, but I was thinking of delaying it for a bit. Just wondering if anyone uses them and what your experiences have been.

You can delay them, you just have to sign a waiver (AND your insurance might not cover all the extra visits) just talk to Dr. Z. I never do more than 2 at a time, they are ok with it. I never did Chic pox vacc with my DS#1 and don't plan to do it this time around either.

Thank you! I was thinking of seeing him next time bc he seems to have a sweet demeanor. I like Dr. W, but he was very firm with me today when I asked about delaying them.

I see Dr. Woletsky, and love him. That being said, we don't see eye to eye on vaccines. I respect what he has to say, but he also respects my decision, and my ability to choose for my children. I never give more than 2 shots at a time. I also delay the MMR. Again, he does tell me why he feels they need to get it on time, I tell him I respect his advice, but I still delay.
We love Dr. Woletsky!

Re: Suffolk Pediatrics West Islip
We go there and Dr. W. also let us delay them. For us it wasn't really because I felt strongly either way, though...DS had an egg allergy so they wanted his allergist to administer his MMR (which he did at 13m). I asked if we could hold off on the CP vacc until after he got that & they said "no problem" and he got it at his 15m well visit. We didn't have to sign any waivers, but again it was kind of a different circumstance. As pp have stated, when it comes to certain things I've found the dr's there to have some strong opinions, but thankfully they've always respected our wishes - which I love!

Thank you again. I'm going to discuss it with him at her next well visit.
