Suffolk OBGYN patients..

I'm looking for OBGYN recommendations. I've been with Suffolk OBGYN since my doctor resigned from NY practice (about two years). I'm not overly thrilled with my doctor there, but I wanted to stay somewhat local to East End hospitals (since I live in Mastic Beach). Anyone have any OBGYN recommendations that they would like to share?

Re: Suffolk OBGYN patients..

So you want to use Suffolk Obgyn? With them they ask that you see everyone in the practice because you will not know who is on call the day you go into labor.

I'm not really feeling that either...sounds like a crap shoot about who I'll be seeing/who I'll get that day. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Re: Suffolk OBGYN patients..

My regular Dr who I have been seeing since I started there is Dr Marshak. She is really nice, but sometimes rushed. Since being pg I have met a few of the other drs and have liked all of them. (Strittmatter, Lee, Dorothy - she is a NP and will be seeing Petraco at my next appt)

It wasn't really bad at all. I would up with the doctor I wanted to deliver us, we were lucky.

I LOVE:

Lograno-delivered DS
Lee
Petraco-started my induction, but Lograno took over. He was also the Dr. that had to tell us about DS#1. He also convinced me to get the epidural Chat Icon
Richter-female
Strittmatter-young doctor, did DS's snip snip, very comforting.

I do not like:

Golub-Could not figure out my due date with this DC, even when I told him that I knew when I ovulated. I get a weird vibe from him.
Marshak-Called to tell us that B's results came back at 16 weeks that he had Trisomy 18, and we should terminate because it was not a viable pregnancy. She didn't know our previous history, and was going off the AFP tests that are just a possibility, not a certainty. When she asked me to call her back, I hit redial on my phone and it went to her home phoneChat Icon She YELLED at me not to call her on her home number (then don't call ME on it you idiot) and then proceeded to tell me my child (in utero) was going to die. Lovely. Obviously, he is here and healthy. I should have reported her, but was hysterical by this point.

Re: Suffolk OBGYN patients..

I see Dr. Porte in E. Setauket.

He is part of Stony Brook OB/GYN. I have seen other Dr.'s in his practice as they encourage you meet most of them.

I really like Dr. Porte and also like Dr. O'keefe in his practice as well. Dr. Lochner and Dr. Welischar were good also, but I tend to like male OB's better.

I know they also have an office in Sayville and Rocky Point.

OMG what an awful woman. She used to be my doctor and I hated her and Suffolk OBGYN so I left them completely.

To answer the OP I use University Associates OBGYN in Setauket and LOVE them. I have my first DD with them and never had an issue.

Re: Suffolk OBGYN patients..

I saw one of the Woman Dr's at Suffolk for my 1st appt after finding out I was pg. As she was doing the pelvic exam/Pap Smear she proceeds to tell me that because I weigh so much that I really shouldn't gain too much weight with my pg. That because I only gained 12 lbs with my 1st pg that I shouldn't use that as an excuse to eat whatever I want. She was so rude and the appt was so quick that I literally walked out of the office and called another OB with my ins and made an appt to see them.

I now see Dr Makowski in Shirley, but they only do sonos on Monday nights so Monday night appts you wait forever. I've had a 6:30pm appt and I've walked out of the office at almost 9pm. I like him and his office but I can't stand the wait. He delivers at St Charles.

I went to suffolk obgyn and switched at 4 months. I see Dr. Narain in patchogue i think? Its right off of woodside. There are only 2 docs in the practice and 1 nurse. They have late hrs and r open on saturdays. SV professional is the name:)

This is where I'm thinking of changing to. My daughter is a pediatric patient there, so it makes sense..

I used to go to Suffolk obgyn when I was pregnant with DS. Dr. Lee delivered DS. I hated them and really dislike Dr Lee.

I go to Three Village Women's Care. They have practices out in Setauket and Patchogue, off of Sills Rd.

I love Suffolk OB/GYN and have been a patient there for 10 years. I agree with the other posters that Marshak is awful. No bedside manner, very unfriendly. However, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Dr. Petraco. He is AWESOME!!! I saw him for most of my pregnancy and he delivered my DD. He is so warm and friendly and he takes time to sit with you and answer any questions. I was VERY happy with him and he did an awesome job delivering my DD via C-section. Chat Icon

I agree, I did not like Dr. Lee at all. Thankfully he didn't deliver DD, but Marshack did, that was the first time I met her. She was fine from what I remember, not extraordinary or anything...but after reading the above, I'm VERY glad I don't go there anymore...though I really, really liked Dr. Lograno and Dr. Petraco!

Dr. Lee was such in a rush to get out of the delivery room because he had been called away from a family party. You could tell he was just annoyed to be there.

I requested my medical records from them and the staff acted like I was trying to do something illegal. They kept asking me why I wanted them released to myself and not to a new gyn. Then they came right out and accused me of trying to set up a malpractice case. It had never even crossed my mind.

I am so glad to be done with them.

Three Village is wonderful. I Love Dr. Droesch!! He is funny and doesn't make you feel rushed. All the Dr's there are wonderful and make you feel important.
