Hello ladies i am looking to enroll my 3 year old dd into nursery school come sept ....she went to grace in lindenhurst last year and LOVED it there however the days for the 3 yr program do not work for me plus i feel she needs an extra day anyway when thurs came she was asking to go and mon took forever to come for her lol. im looking for a part time like 9am to 12pm mon-wed- fri type deal

I was looking into super kids in lindenhurst on montauk highway and miss midges in west babylon near arnold ave. any feed back on either school would be greatly appreciated.

Miss Midgies has 2, 3 and 5 days a week for 3 year olds. It's a very good program, and it's one of the only schools that I found where your child didn't have to be potty trained to attend. All the teachers there are great. They make it fun for the kids. And if your kids have any separation anxiety, they deal with that really well. They were wonderful with my son. (My heart still tightens when I think of how sad my son was when we would leave him in the beginning.) And she offers a summer camp program which keeps the kids busy in the summer too. I saw online recently that there is an open house on Aug 9th from 10-2.

St. Joseph's in Babylon also offers a 3 year old program, but it's Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can add an extra activity day starting in October, so your DD could go 3 days. St. Joe's has a great program, and I found it to be more school-like. My son did really well here. We both loved it.

thank you for your post....question I saw that you posted st josephs was more school like...did they just have like an open play at miss midgies or was there a somewhat learning schedule they follow .
I will see about attending their open house to take a look and ask some questions.
That is ideally what I am looking for she isn't potty trained and as far as her separation anxiety its normal she is shy till she gets to know people and gets into the routine .
I really would love the mon wed fri schedule but I wouldn't really want just full play her others school taught colors counting letters stuff like that to prep them I guess for when they start school eventually ....I know she is only three but she loves learning new things .

Both schools offer a combination of free play, group play, and group learning.

St. Joseph's has separate classrooms, and within each class room, there are separate areas for free play, learning, reading, painting, etc. They rotate the children around the room. It looks more like a classroom environment. And once a month they have a gym class.

Miss Midgies also has different play areas, but I think they move the kids from the front rooms to the back room for different activities. I know they sing a lot of songs, do art projects, and learning. It's a lot of fun-learning-play.

Miss Midgies is smaller than St. Joseph's, and the parking lot is very small. Parking during drop-off and pick-up can get a little crazy, since there are signs everywhere saying no street parking. And on rainy days, the lobby gets crowded, with all the parents hovering around. She also has a facebook page, and you can see all the kids are happy. That was one of my favorite parts..getting to see pictures of the kids while they were at school. (Since at 3 years old, they weren't saying very much about their school day!)

My son cried when he first started going there. I think it's common for the 3-yr olds. It was a big separation for him, and I really do appreciate the care they took with him.
