Suffolk County Favorites-Feed Back Please
My Dh and I are moving back to NY and will be living in Suffolk County (near the Northshore). We used to live in Nassau County and with the exception of Huntington, we are clueless about To Do and Where to Eat in Suffolk County. What are your Favorites?

being a born and raised Suffolk gal, here is my suggestions:
(now keep in mind Suffolk is very large. Most of these are in the Smithtown area since that is where I spent the majority of my life)
1) Diner: Hi-Lite Diner (in Port Jeff)
2) Italian Rest.: Sun Dried Tomato (Nesconset)
3) Japanese Rest: Gashos (Hauppauge)
4) Mex. Rest.: Pancho Villas (Huntington Village)
5) Chinese Rest.: no real prefrence
6) Steakhouse: Boulder Creek (Smithtown), J.R. Steakhouse (Stony Brook)
7) Indian Rest.: don't care for it
8) Deli: any local deli
9) Beaches: Robert Moses
10) Parks: no prefrence
11)Wineries: All of them on the north shore
12) Dog Rescues: North Shore Animal League
13) Favorite Grocer: Super Stop & Shop. You won't find many little Grocers on LI, mostly supermarkets
14) Fairs: any
15) Any other "Must See" or "do" (esp. this summer):

I haven't lived there in awhile, but I grew up in Smithtown.
1) Diner: Across the street from the Stonybrook movie theater.
2) Italian Rest.: - Patio Pizza on Lake Ave. in St. James (there is a yummy restaurant in the back. I think it is called Calageries)
3) Japanese Rest: - Kotubuki
4) Mex. Rest.: Ummm....
5) Chinese Rest.: My mom keeps swtiching places...
6) Steakhouse: - Paces
7) Indian Rest.: Not a fan...
8) Deli: On Nesconset Highway just East of Old Nicholls
9) Beaches: - Robert Moses, West Meadow, Short Beach in Smithtown
10) Parks: - The Arboreteum in Old Field

6) Steakhouse: Outback (E. Setauket) or J&R (Smithtown)
7) Indian Rest.: Only been to one in Hicksville but I heard House of India on Middle Country in Lake Grove is good
8) Deli: Any local one will do.
9) Beaches: Cedar Beach - Mt. Sinai
10) Parks: Belmont Lake State Park in Babylon
11)Wineries: Any -- there are so many, but I really like Pindar and Duck Walk
12) Dog Rescues: Save a pet in Port Jeff or Little Shelter in Huntington
13) Favorite Grocer: Waldbaum's on 347 in E. Setauket
14) Fairs: hmm...not sure...there's one at Smithaven Mall this weekend! I used to love the one at Nassau Colliseum!
15) Any other "Must See" or "do" (esp. this summer): Go to Splish Splash in Riverhead...take a ride to Montauk for a day or weekend and if you like fishing, head out to a charter boat. Oh, and have lunch with LaurenExp!

2) Italian Rest.: So many.... La Famiglia in Smithtown is good San Marco in Hauppauge- love it there!
3) Japanese Rest: Kotobuki in Hauppague and Sushi Park in Commack
4) Mex. Rest.: Salsa Salsa in Smithtown-there is one in Port Jeff too
5) Chinese Rest.: no preference-whatever was close by Lotus East in St. James is good
6) Steakhouse: Paces in Hauppauge
7) Indian Rest.: never ate on LI
8) Deli: A &S in Smithtown
9) Beaches: Robert Moses
10) Parks:

I've lived in Smithtown all my life, so I will give you my favorites.
1) Diner: Millenium in Smithtown
2) Italian Rest.: Ciao Baby Commack
3) Japanese Rest: Tomo Smithtown
4) Mex. Rest.: Toss up between Viva Juan in Centerport, or La Panchita in Smithtown.
5) Chinese Rest.: I don't like chinese, so I am no help.
6) Steakhouse: I don't eat Steak, but my DH does. Good Restaurants, with good steaks. Bliss (Setauket), and Oscars (St. James).
7) Indian Rest.: Don't eat Indian
8) Deli: Johnnie Sub Side, Smithtown.
9) Just to add, favorite Greek: Mykonos Smithtown, Akropolis Nesconset.
9) Beaches: Local beaches: Long Beach or Short Beach Smithtown. Great Board walk: Suken Meadow State Park, Kings Park. Ocean Beach: Smiths Point.

2) Italian Rest.: Mama Lombardi's, O Sole Mio, Sundried Tomato Cafe, La Casa
3) Japanese Rest: I don't eat Japanese, so can't help.
4) Mex. Rest.: Viva Juan (sit-down) Salsa Salsa in Smithtown (take-out/quick dining)
5) Chinese Rest.: Tangerine, Lotus East
6) Steakhouse: Pricier: Pace's (Hauppauge and Port Jeff- I prefer Port Jeff), Teller's- Islip Lower cost: J&R's
