Such a dilemma! In regards to going back to work..

I am a preschool teacher.

I took this year off but was planning on returning in September. My dh is a local 3 electrician. He has been working nights for over a year now. So the plan was..I go back part time. Work from 8-12...be home by 1 and he leaves for work at around 2 30.

He was obviously going to watch Megan in the morning and I would be with her for the rest of the day. I DO NOT want to bring her to work with me, I vowed not to do that. I cant ask my mom to watch her and I dont want to hire a sitter because it kind of defeats the purpose of going back at all.

Now it looks like he may get transferred to another shop and may go back to working days. I have already told my director I would be back in September and she has told all the parents that I will be returning. We wont know for at least another month whats going on with dh and his job. I dont want to wait until the last minute to tell my boss and then jam her up..but I dont want to open my mouth now just in case he stays with night hours and then she fills my position.

UGH! Not looking for advice because I doubt there is an answer...I just needed to vent!

So sorry - that sounds like a dilemma right now. I hope that you can get an answer from his job sooner just to keep your thoughts straight.
Can he request to STAY on nights?

Good luck either way! Chat Icon

I would definitely wait until your DH's situation is finalized.

While it is considerate of you to worry about your boss, aren't teaching positions in high demand?
Where do you work? I bet she would be able to fill your position even at the last minute if you work in a desirable school district.

Good Luck!!

Chat Icon Ethically, my answer is sort of wrong...but I would keep quiet to my boss and see how things pan out.

Leo worked days this week....OMG what a difference it made in our life.

I heard local 3 is pretty slow right now. Your DH is lucky to still be working. I'm sorry the situation isn't ideal. Believe me as a local 1 wife, I have been there. Chat Icon Chat Icon

That is a dilemna but another shop is better than getting laid off. My brother was out last year for 30+ weeks and one of his friends just got his slip the other day. Does he want to switch shops? Is there anyway he could talk to the foreman, straw, or shop stewart about staying there and on nights? Good luck it is rough Chat Icon
