Successful external version!!

So today at 37w1d I went to NSUH for an ECV. I really went back and forth as to whether I should have the procedure done but ultimately I trust my doctor who felt I was a good candidate, boy am I glad I did it!

I went in and the sono tech confirmed that the baby was frank breech, I had a full bladder (very important to flip baby), she also said that the babys butt was floating (not engaged in pelvis) which was the ideal circumstance.

Dr. Rochelson came (according to the tech he is the best so try to get him lol), he looked at the baby via sono. He told me I may need something to relax my uterus but he would try to flip her first.

He maneuvered her for I kid you not 15 seconds (painful seconds) and told me to run to the bathroom to empty my bladder. I was shocked, she flipped already?! YES! I went to the bathroom, came back, she was indeed in vertex, head down position!!

They monitored me for a little over an hour to confirm all was good with her.

At the end they checked, she was still head down, heres hoping she stays that way!! Doc also said that I should empty my bladder as often as possible bc the water makes it easier for her to flip.

A couple things I took away from this:

Having had a large baby prior I was a good candidate.

Full bladder helps, so drink a ton of water and try not to pee yourself, I almost did but he said that my full bladder was KEY.

They took every precaution and it was really a great experience, I would certainly recommend trying to anyone w a breech baby!
