It's a ploy that all banks use to make money off of their customers.
I bank at Bank of America. Last week I deposited a check (from a my husbands PT employer) & the check bounced.
The bank charged me! (It was my husbands employer who bounced the check). When I spoke to a manager he said "when you deposit a check you run the risk of the check bouncing & therefore you are responsible for any incurred fees" He refused to refund the $35.00 charge. I will be changing our account to the credit union where I feel they at least value & appreciate their customers.

I hate WAMU also, for many reasons. But I did get them to reverse charges made to our savings acct, which were apparently a new Chase feature but they never notified us.
And for the record, I would suggest a Credit Union over any bank, any day!! Can't get that through DH's thick head though!!

I just went to WaMu (Wantagh) and had some erroneous fees reversed in a matter of minutes.
I agree that going in person is the key - which is also why I amke sure I know the tellers at my bank, and they know me. I haven't gotten a "no" from them yet!

I had/have wamu. but I can not stand chase. DH has always banked with TFCU so we made the switch (for the most part) over to them this weekend. I feel like I will never be 100% happy with a bank, but teachers def. covers you with your money in savings if you don't have it in checking.
I have been a customer with Teachers as well and have never had a problem with them. On the occassions that I have gone over they have just transfered the money from my savings. it is done as a courtesy. I do know there is a limit though (dont know whether it is 3 or 5 transfers per month).

I guess I'm staying with Wamu since it seems like ALL banks have issues.
And they refunded my fees when I told them I was going to bank elsewhere! Yay!

Yeah, that you don't have overdraft is something you should have been aware of. I wouldn't expect them to stop the card. I used to bank w/Wamu and hated that part.
But if I ever overdrew on the same day that I depositied, there were no fees because it all evened out at the end of the day. This must be a new policy - courtesy of Chase I am sure!!!
Go with a credit union. Most accept just about anyone these days. Now that I am back at one, I can't believe how long I strayed!!!

I TA!!! I am switching back to a credit union. I have WAMU and HATE them!!!! And hate Chase even more who took over Wamu. I am leaving them ASAP.
