Stupid priming question
Right now the trim in our MB is natural wood and I am changing it to white and need to prime it. When I prime it, should it look like a coat of paint where you shoudn't see any of the wood or is it ok if some of the wood is showing through?
Thanks!

Re: Stupid priming question
It's fine if some of the wood shows through .......I'm assuming it's not huge spots you missed w/ the primer, just where the primer didn't fully cover .......

Re: Stupid priming question
it should be fine. The purpose of primer is to help the paint "stick", not necessarily cover. A thin layer (where the color below shows through) is usually sufficient.

Re: Stupid priming question
A thin layer of primer should do it.

Re: Stupid priming question
i would really like to know if this works. i have molding that has been stained, very lightly. i KNOW i used a primer on my shed that is cedar shakes with a varnish on it and the primer worked perfect! Now, we go to hardware store, they tell us primer won't stick. why would it stick to cedar shakes with a stain / varnish, but won't to the molding?
do you have anything on your molding, or is it virgin?
