Stupid Organic Milk question
What is the difference between
Organic Milk
and the milk in the foodstore ? It says "we promise not to use steroids/growth hormones in our cows."
So what makes Organic Milk better ?
Does it taste any different ?

is it pesticides in the feed that the regular cows are eating that you are trying to avoid?

The cows cannot be given antibiotics. The feed must be organic (ie. non gmo and without use of synthetic pesticides). So yes, there is a big difference.

Also, within the organic milk space there is grass fed and pasteurized vs. ultra pasteurized. There was a thread I learned a ton from a few months ago but in lay men's terms your best bang for your buck will be grass-fed, pasteurized. Ultra pasteurization kills the natural vitamins in the milk requiring it to be fortified (the body doesn't absorb these as well). Grass fed cows are optimally fed and will produce optimal milk.
Organic Valley, Natural by Nature and Fairway organic brands all fit this criteria. Fairway is 3.49 for a half gallon, well worth it and cheaper than Horizon which is inferior in quality.

Stupid Organic Milk question
Nature's Promise brand comes pasteurized, not ultra-pasteurized, in whole milk gallons. Only in the gallon container.

Two other good brands:
Rooneybrook farms and Skytop farms. They are both from grass-fed cows, unhomogenized and lightly pasteurized. They are both available at Whole Foods and Fairway.
