A really stupid question about milk...
Adding chocolate syrup to it doesn't cancel out drinking it for the right reasons, does it? I'm really not a milk drinker but add some chocolate syrup and a straw and I can get through the glass really quickly.
Also, how much milk do you all drink? I'm having a big Solo glass of chocolate milk (18 oz - made with organic skim milk and only a little syrup) every day - is that enough?

No, I don't think adding chocolate syrup or mix will affect the calcium you're getting.
I hate milk, so I don't drink it. I asked my Dr. about calcium intake and he said I should be getting more than enough from my pre-natal vitamin.

The chocolate should be fine...
I HATE milk...always have. So, I take a calcium supplement and drink almond milk...I like it much better.
I also eat a lot of other dairy...cheese and yogurt.

When I first found out I was pregnant, I started drinking two glasses of 2% milk a day with some ovaltine, b/c I normally dont drink any milk and was concerned about getting enough calcium. I gained 15 lbs. in my first trimester and when I raised concerns with my OB she said all that milk wasn't necessary and a calcium supplement would cover it.

Maybe see if you can get low-caffeine chocolate or something? I don't even know if that exists! lol Chocolate is just one of those things where the caffeine can sneak up on you if you're not aware.
I asked my OB today and he said I should be having 2 extra servings of dairy a day from my pre-pregnancy diet. I have a way to go!

The chocolate syrup is fine - I drink 2 glasses of chocolate milk a day. Just make sure you aren't taking it too much caffeine during the day because the chocolate syrup contains caff too.
I think you need 3 servings of dairy per day.

I hate milk.
My OB never mentioned anything about upping my calcium intake while PG so I never thought anything of it.
I figure the prenatals cover most of what I need.
I also wouldn't be so concerned about the caffeine in chocolate milk.
There's about 4mg in an 8 oz glass of chocolate milk and my OB said you are allowed between 200-300 mg a day.

both my grandmothers had/have osteoporosis- one was so bad that she was actually completely hunched over before she died- the doctor told me that its crucial that I get enough calcium during pregnancy for that reason- I know its in my prenatal- but not 100% so I take an extra supplement and try and get 2-3 additional servings from food
I think its fine to get it from chocolate milk- I am totally going to steal that idea

There's not much caffeine in chocolate milk.
I drink at least 2 glasses a day. I eat something with chocolate right before (usually a fiber bar).
