I just read this, and this was me in a panic two weeks ago after I got the letter that it was time to repay (I used a loan for my master's degree at a private university). I'm glad you got a better outcome!

I think one of the main reasons it made such a difference is that they told me that they had one being paid off in 2014!!! Um, it's already 2008! So now all of them are extended for the 30 yrs. I think that made most of the difference.
