Stroller & Vacation

If you brang a stroller with you on a vacation where you had to fly, did you buy a cheap umbrella stroller, or bring your regular stroller?

Ooh! Glad you asked - I want to know this too.

As an additional question - what about if your child is an infant and is too small for an umbrella stroller? Mine is currently in an infant car seat...how does that work with airline travel??

I got the Uppababy GLuxe for travel. You can use it starting at 3 months. It is sooo light. The seat reclines and the footrest adjusts. It has a nice little basket. The sun protection is the best you can get on an umbrella stroller.

Re: Stroller & Vacation

We have the uppa baby vista...but that was too much to travel with...
so we bought the city mini jogger...
we also bought a bag for it. and its been great!

its light weight and having the bag is great because we check it at the gate and the bag has tags and it wont get dirty/scratched etc when they bring it down into the cargo portion of the plane.

plus when you arrive sometimes they make you go to down to baggage claim to retrieve the stroller (only happened once and was a pain) but having the stroller in the bag was great and worth the investment.

Re: Stroller & Vacation

We bought a Combi stroller 6 years ago for traveling and still use it. It's on it's second child. It's super lightweight, folds up with a shoulder strap, and reclines. It was probably the best $100 I've ever spent on something child related. When my older one was in that in between phase of needing/not needing a stroller we also brought a cheap umbrella stroller. We really only used it in Disney, we didn't need it for the pool, dinner or shopping.

Re: Stroller & Vacation

I got a Graco Metrolite when he was born. It lays flat so he could use it from birth.. We bought it with us when we went to Disney when he was 4 months old.. We uses it on every vacation.. I recently replaced it with a Graco Urbanlite..

Re: Stroller & Vacation

We brought our citi mini and gate checked it.

We also brought our infant seat, but checked that with our luggage in a padded bag we bought for it.

We had no issues with any damage.

We have only flown once when my girls were 4 and 2.5 and I brought cheapo umbrella strollers for both (we were going to Disney). Then again, neither really used a stroller at all at that point and certainly never napped in one.

Re: Stroller & Vacation

DEF DEF DEF a jogging stroller...esp if they nap....

I brought this to disney and to beach vacations! The wheels roll right over the sand and it acts like a high chair in restaurants and on the beach and in the parks

I also brought a cheap umbrella stroller to have for my older DD so she had somewhere to sit when we went for longer walks...

I didnt bother with my double bec didnt want to deal with something that big AND it was easier to separate if we had to - one adult and one c

We have the uppababy vista & we took it with us to Disney last month & were SOOO glad to have it. We gate checked stroller with reg stroller seat & also gate checked carseat. I was nervous about stroller getting banged up bc it was $$$ but it was fine. I was so glad we had our normal stroller & all it's options- I must've said to DH at least 3x a day, "omg I love this stroller & I'm sooooo happy we brought it with us!!!" GL!
