Strange topic: your signature

What is your signature like? Obviously, you don’t have to post it.

Mine is a squiggle because I have a long name.

I’ve now been asked to change it. How does one go about changing their signature? I’m just so used to doing it this way for 20+ years.

Who asked you to change your signature?

Mine is illegible.

Big script P start the h and then squiggly from there. Big Print letter of my last name a small script letter and then squiggly from there as well.

Re: Strange topic: your signature

Mine is weird. LOL.
I write Stacey and then I take the bottom part of my "y" and cross my "t" with it, then I do a squiggle thing for my last name.
I've been signing my name like this forever, and wouldn't know what to do if I had to change it.

For credit card signatures I just know scribble. I do the first two letters proabbly readable then scriblle the rest.

For a signature on important documents its mostly legible. I feel like my signature has been the same since school when I want it to look nice and legible

Mine is illegible to the point where when I accidentally write the wrong last name (I still use my maiden name for some stuff bc I'm lazy about that too) you wouldn't even know it.

Mine is very legible, but I've noticed a lot of people's aren't. Why did someone ask you to change yours?

Re: Strange topic: your signature

One of my freelance jobs asked to change it. My boss knows my signature, but the big boss doesn’t think it’s good enough. Apparently it’s illegible. Ugh so annoying. I have no idea how to change it. I mean I have an idea, but it’s really difficult to change it.

You're signature is kind of like a legal identifier. Like when you sign bank docs, legal docs etc- it's like your fingerprint.
I find that odd that they asked you to change it.

My boss's signature looks like an animal of some kind got a hold of a pen in it's teeth or claws and made a mark on the paper. Chat Icon

I only do my first initial and last name, I hate writing out my entire first name though lol. I don't know how someone would go about changing the signature if that's your signature...

Mine isn’t very legible. The only good thing about having taken DH’s name is that it’s much shorter than my maiden name so it’s gone from illegible to slightly legible.

Why would anyone ask you to change your signature? That’s very odd and potentially unsafe.

When I’m using my credit card in a store, my first name is very clear. My last name is a bit of a mess, but it’s a consistent mess. It always looks the same. For everything else, my full name is completely legible and neat (I have pretty handwriting).

DH’s signature looks like hieroglyphics.

Mine is illegible. It was legible before I had to sign a lot of stuff, and then it got shorter and less legible.

It's basically the first letter of my first name then I dip down because there is a y in my first name. Then first letter of my second name and then a dip down because there is a y in that name. Then a squiggle for the first letter of my last name and then a dip down for a p.

My maiden name had similar letters to my married name, so I only slightly modified it when I got married - basically I used to do the first 4 letters of my married name until I got to a p, and now I do the first two letters which is when I hit a p. Not sure why I always cut off the words once I hit a letter that dips down.

Re: Strange topic: your signature

I always just sign my first initial and last name. All caps and all connected as if it were cursive, if that makes sense. It’s a scribble.

My handwriting is great so its strange that my signature looks like a violently angry chimpanzee got a whole of a writing instrument.

weird they are asking you to change it. even MDs squiggle (hence why we are now in the era of EMR but if they have to sign a piece of paper like a letter its still squiggled above their printed name).

I somehow feel they shouldn't be asking you this.

Mine is first initial, second, they basically squiggle. it's better so people can't copy it i think

my mother has a signature of a queen. every time she signs something people comment how elegant it is. she attributes it to her penmanship class. I mean it literally looks like something out of a font drop down menu.

i mean, i had "penmanship" where they taught us cursive, and both my brother and i write in chicken scratch.

Re: Strange topic: your signature

My signature has gotten sloppier and sloppier over the years, mostly because I hate the time it takes to write it out neatly in script, but I make sure the capital letters are the same every time.

Your signature is very personal. I don't understand how someone could possibly ask you to change it.

Mine is not legible. I started that many years ago because I wanted to make it very difficult to forge.

Re: Strange topic: your signature

Mine is clearly legible, and I guess you can call it proper Script, but I use the German way of writing certain letters.
For credit cards I scribble something, usually Minnie Mouse.

My is neat and legible.
I worked with someone about 20 years ago whose identity was stolen. She taught herself to sign her full name backwards. it was pretty cool to watch her sign her name.

I work in behavior health/ medicine, thankfully at my new job, we use EMR, my previous job was all paper. I must sign my name some days 20-30 times plus I supervise people clinically and sign their paperwork. Mine is 50/50 on legible, most people know it’s me!
