Strange question about a smell in a house, lol
So yesterday I went down into my playroom and notice a foul smell. We live in a very wooded area and a dead animal is very possible. It smelled mostly in one wall. this wall is just concrete behind sheet rock, so an animal being stuck there is unlikely. We have had a dead bat in the wall before, so I was like ugh. My DH is away in London this week of course. So I opened the windows, put on the dehumidifier and was hoping it would go away. It hasn't but it seems to be smelling now up stairs too. I am not sure exactly what it is. It's not making us sick or anything that strong and seems to come and go. We are having our septic tank pumped tomorrow, but our 1 toilet sometimes backs up, never overflowing but slowly drains, this is fairly new, and did it 2 times this morning but not since. there's no leak inside or outside, that I see. I can't figure it out. The smell is just bad not necessarily sewer/septic smell.
Anyway, if it doesn't go away tomorrow after they pump, who would you call? I sound crazy, saying my house smells, i don't know of what or where lol

Are you sure it isn't a gas leak? Those are extremely dangerous.

it def does NOT smell like gas. More of a bad smell. I cleaned the playroom looking for spoiled food or milk lol, but nothing it's so strange

we had a sewage backup when a house trap pipe broke. hubby first thought the baby had a foul bottle somewhere

ok thank you for this. My DH thinks I'm crazy b/c it's not like sewage/waste septic smell, yet. lol
I'll see what they say when they pump tomorrow

When we had an issue with our sump pump backing up, the house smelled like someone lit a fart on fire lol.

Do you have any showers, sinks, or toilets that you rarely use? We had a bad smell in our basement a few weeks ago and I actually posted on here asking what it could be. It ended up coming from the shower that we never use. We need to let the water run for a couple of minutes every few days. The smell went away and hasn't come back.

I did think about it but the smell is getting stronger and now in the whole house.I owuld think from Sat that smell would be gone and I would probably see more bugs around
ETA after I posted this there was one crawling on my wall. lol but it was only one and haven't seen any in days

I would call an exterminator to come take a look. My mom had a dead squirrel in her walls. We still have no idea how he got in there. But he stunk up the house! My mom has to have her sheetrock ripped down and replaced.

I agree with this. Gas leaks could smell like rotten eggs. Does it smell like a rotten egg?

no not rotten eggs and we don't have gas. Oil and electric
So they pumped the septic and i thought it was smelling better but now it seems worse again
