Strange mark on his body
Hey guys - I wanted to put this out there and see if this has happened to anyone and maybe figure out what this is....
Last week, I noticed a purplish mark on Cailen's waist. It almost looks like a birthmark, only he wasn't born with it - it just showed up. I would say it is about the size of my pinky nail - and kind of shaped like a country (but I'm bad at geography  ). It's the weirdest thing....
When I touched it, he said it didn't hurt. He had no idea it was even on his body. He didn't recall getting hurt or anything happening on his waist.... It felt like part of his skin, but this week it feels a little raised and crusty. DH thinks it's a blood blister, and maybe he got pinched somehow on his waist.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Definitely not - that manifests as a running sore - like a scratchy hole with red around it (I had a bad case of it as a kid....)
ETA - I didn't realize you posted a pic... Bad memories resurfacing - LOL - but imagine that shape, but dark, dark purple! With the feature of a beauty mark....

Does it look like a mole? I had one that wasn't a mole that appeared out of nowhere and it was some bloodthing.I can't remember what my doctor called it! It was harmless and I had it removed in her office. It was dark !

It looks like a port-wine mole - like a very dark purple. It's on his waist - I wouldn't even think of removing it unless necessary. I will definitely ask at his 3 yr well-visit.
It literally showed up overnight!

It looks like a port-wine mole - like a very dark purple. It's on his waist - I wouldn't even think of removing it unless necessary. I will definitely ask at his 3 yr well-visit.

I just edited my post to say mine was dark. Have your Dr. look at it. I finally had mine removed because even though the Dr. told me it wasn't cancerous a gazillion other people always made comments about it! Mine was on my chest.I have absolutely no scar from the removal.

I have no idea but I would definately have the doc check it out. Moles can appear anytime. I had one on my head when I was a baby it was removed because of the location and brushing of the hair etc would irritate it. my mom and sisters have a lot of moles and they had them since early on!
Also if it's an irregular shape it's best to get it looked at as soon as you can. I don't mean to scare you but it's better to be safe than sorry.

OK, after much googling, could it be a spider bite? I notices on a few sites people explained it like a port wine birth mark.

That would make Cailen's day - he already thinks he's Spiderman....
I did read something about that as well, but he is totally fine otherwise - maybe I'll give the dr a call to be on the safe side.....

Can you post a picture. I have a dark purple birthmark, in a circle, on my back. It is raised and I just got it checked out for the 2nd time in my life. It first showed up when I was about 4. I was told it was non cancerous-just a birthmark.
I wish I had a camera here, I would take a picture of it.
