storing breastmilk
in need of some advice here.
just gave birth and am breastfeeding. I'm pumping to get a stock for when I go back to work, but I'm not sure what sort of container I should store the milk in the freezer with.
DH thinks we can just put it in a ziplock, but I thought we needed special breastfeeding storage bags.
Does anyone know what to use? any helpful sites for info on BFing????
TIA

Re: storing breastmilk
I would suggest breastmilk storage bags, they are easier to pour out of, they are made to be frozen, and they have convenient markings on the side so you can tell how much is in them.
I have heard a lot about http://www.kellymom.com/ , I would check there first.
ETA: Congratulations and good luck!

Re: storing breastmilk
The official storage bags are also sterilized -- http://store.babycenter.com/product/3961.do to see an example.

Re: storing breastmilk
I used Gerber BM storage bags with my son. This time I am using Lansinoh, I like them better, actually.
Definitely don't use zip lock bags.
Congratulations on your baby and best of luck!!

I like the Lansinoh bags- they fit more and just feel more sturdy.
You can buy them at Rite Aid, Target, BRU,etc

Re: storing breastmilk
the BM bags are better than ziplocks because they're sterile, intended for the freezer and they're thicker (so they don't get holes or tear once frozen).

Re: storing breastmilk
I use Medela or Lansinoh bags. They are made especially for this purpose.
I also use Medela containers but mostly for the fridge.
