stopping birth control question

Hi! I'm not TTC yet but I'm considering going off the pill soon just b/c I hate taking it. I have a couple of questions for you ladies:

1. Did you notice a change in your cycle, meaning with AF?
2. If so, how long did it take to regulate?

I'm just trying to figure out what to expect. TIA!

I think this is one of those things where unfortunately you don't know until you try. For me - I was completely regular the month off bcp at 27 days. The problem is that being on bcp can mask other problems that you didn't know where there already. Also - for some it can just take a while to regulate.

For me, PMS is much worse off of the pill along with the cramping and bloating. On the pill I got my period every 28 days on the dot and lasted approximately 4 days. My first period off of the pill didn't come until day 32/33, was light and lasted 5 days. My second period off of the pill came on day 33, was super heavy and lasted only 2 days. Right now is cycle day 27 and am patiently waiting to see if I'm either pregnant or if AF will be paying a visit. (I'm waiting to test until after day 34.)

my cycle was a little quirky in the beginning, some cycles longer than others. i was always regular before BCP and was on it for about 6-7 years. it took my body about 6 months to finally regulate. but now that i am off BCP, factors like stress can affect it. so even though it is usually 30 days, it can be as short as 28 and as long as 31.

I just recently got off the pill last month, and I feel amazing. I was on the pill for 8 years and my first cycle was 33 days. So pretty regular about 3 days late...

My periods are not regular when I am off the pill. It does not matter how long I am off for.

My periods were regular right away, every 28-30 days. My breasts definitely are a lot more sore right before AF now and my periods still last about 4 days.

I've been off since June.... my cycles have been between 28 and 30 days - except for my last cycle - 36.... Why??

I love being off the pill - I do feel a bit more bloated....

I think this depends on each person and everyones situation is different.

I was on the patch for a few years and when I got off, my cycles didn't really change all that much. I still get AF between 30-32 days. I do feel the cramps more now and the bloatiness... Apparently I became more emotional while PMSing for a few months when I got off the patch...or so DH would tell me

When I went off to have DS I was regular right off the pill (28 days, the first month, 29 the next , then 30, then I was preggo.) This time around I was irregular. I just went off the pill the end of August and got my period 9 days late at day 37.
