Stopping BF-- Question
I'm trying to stop BF, unfortunately . I can't do it at work, and well, I'm just really having to stop. I've worked down to just feeding or pumping 4 or so times a day.
Did anyone get lots and lots of little lumps in their boobs when they'd gone lots of hours between feedings/pumping? I pumped at 1pm, but it wasn't productive much, and now, my boob is engorged and has tons of lumps that feel like they're just under the skin surface. It's really crazy...the bumps are making me really nervous.

Re: Stopping BF-- Question
You poor thing- I know how badly you wanted to keep BFing. I got your FM, but wanted to post here too....
Keep pumping for awhile- DON'T stop cold turkey. Just pump until you feel comfortable- slowly you will decrease the amount you're getting.. Those lumps are your full milk ducts. When you don't feed/pump enough- your ducts can become plugged/clogged.
To release clogged ducts, take a hot shower and massage the crap out of your breasts- then pump/feed. Once you stop feeling lumps, STOP with the hot showers, as the warm heat encourages "let-down".
Also- when you do pump/feed, try leaning forward so the force of gravity helps to empty your breasts more forcefully (this will unclog your ducts).
Just an FYI- you don't have to totally give up BFing. If you cut down your pumping throughout the day, but nurse/pump at night, you will eventually only produce milk at those times.
Good luck- and DON'T fret about FF- you've provided that liquid gold and that's all that matters. Formula is PERFECTLY fine from this point on as well.....

I am going through that right now. I just stopped BF/pumping on Monday so today I feel like I am lumpy and bumpy. I think it's just the full milk ducts.

Re: Stopping BF-- Question
I am really sorry that you have to give up BFing when you would like to continue
When my breasts have gotten engorged, they feel a little lumpy too. As soon as I BF or pump and drain the milk it goes away.
