Stomach bug
Is there something going around? My 3 year old woke up at 2am and threw up pretty steadily till about 7am. Right now she is warm and sleeping on my lap. This kid never naps.
Since she's home with me and not in daycare I thought I wouldn't have to worry about her getting sick this season but of course we hung out with kids on Sat and now this. Poor baby.

Re: Stomach bug
YES!!! It went around my kids daycare 2 weeks ago (DH and I also were lucky enough to get it too )
Speaking to friends (with and without kids) it seems to be the time of year for the stomach bug
Ours seemed to be a 24 hour thing (for the vomiting, fever etc) it took 2-3 days before eating fully again and energy levels coming back to normal
Hope your little one feels better soon! Do tons of laundry and clean to help prevent you from getting it because it seems to be extremely contagious! DD managed to escape it somehow

Re: Stomach bug
Yes. Me and DS had the bug on Saturday night until yesterday. He woke up this morning asking for milk and meatballs so I know he was feeling better, LOL.

I'm on my 6th load. Had to wash all of her bedding. All of my bedding. And like 20 towels.
Of course the first thing I washed was my comforter. She fell asleep and just peed all over it. She never has accidents in her sleep so that is heading back to the wash.

Both of my DSs have it! First vomiting and then diarrhea =( they've been on a bland diet, hopefully their little bellies get better soon. Oh and I'm pretty sure they caught it from their little cousin who just started going to school.

Re: Stomach bug
We just got it. I think Ds picked it up at the peds office. We've never had a stomach bug and my kids are 4 and 7. After the overnight bout with vomiting, we were fine for the most part. DH never caught it. Good luck!

Same, we got it 2 weeks ago. DD puked twice and continued to shovel food in her mouth. I vomited for 24 hours straight.

Re: Stomach bug
Yep. I had a stomach virus last week Monday through Tuesday night. My hubby however had pure evil running through his body Wednesday into Friday. He was so dehydrated he needed IV fluids

Dd seems to have stopped throwing up but has no appetite. Just keeping an eye on her and negotiating sips of water.

Yes its definitely going around. 1yr old and sitter (and then her husband) got it, I'm guessing from Kidville. Shockingly nobody else has gotten it... yet

Lol. I guess this is true but this week it just seems worse. Every other post on my fb feed is someone complaining about it. We are on 48hrs of it. Dd woke up again at 2am throwing up and is now warm again.

Re: Stomach bug
It is so going around like the plague. That is all I keep reading on my FB feed.
I PRAY that none of us get it. I give DS probiotics daily, so I am hoping that helps him a bit to not catch it and bring it home from school.
We have also been hibernating for the past 2 weeks, and not having anyone around or going anywhere. With our luck we will get sick for Christmas, I just don't need that.

You know that trick with the grape juice? I bet it works with red wine as well- grapes are grapes right?
I have been using that theory nightly! Stomach virus prevention!

Re: Stomach bug
I've heard from some people that some schools are telling parents with healthy kids to keep them at home!
Luckily, it is just beginning to hit my son's school. DD had seriously everyone and every teacher go out.

I'd be pissed about that. How about you disinfect the school properly and keep the sick kids home?
If they have been in school with the sick ones they are probably already exposed so what good is keeping them home going to do? So sick kids are home sick, well kids are home hiding- so then what?

This makes no sense to me. I don't understand why schools who have outbreaks like this are NOT disinfecting properly. It should NEVER get to this point. Schools should be disinfecting on a regular basis, even more so during these winter months.

Re: Stomach bug
And for the record, you can carry the virus up to 2 weeks after you've been sick- so at the end of the day, it doesn't matter who stays home and who doesn't.
Stomach virus- like all other illnesses- are just a fact of life at this time of year.

You can disinfect all you want. As soon as the kids come in they start spreading germs. It takes up to 2 weeks for symptoms to appear so even though a child seems healthy they can still be carrying the virus. It's just one of those things in life I feel like you can try as hard as you might but if it's your turn its your turn.

2 weeks? So if my kids had it last weekend does that mean I need to keep them away from everyone for 2 more weeks? I knew we were going to miss Christmas again his year :(

Technically and clinically yes that is how long the virus can live and be transmitted after symptoms subside. But I have never heard of anyone keeping themselves and their kids in isolation after a stomach bug for that long.
