Stay or switch
We picked a ped and im torn to stay or switch.
Picked this office as had good hours, not terribly far from house, has sick room, more than one dr so you wont get transferred if they are out and heard a good rec.
First meeting in hospital was great. When we got home we had an issue and called emer line and spoke to girl who supposedly contacts drs. Well we never got a call back and almost took baby to hospital. First visit went well and confronted dr who said never got the msg but next time dont be afraid to call again. Ok things happen and they said all right things so who knows. Next visit all fine. Recep makes follow up apt then asks me if it was 2012 or 2013. Basically i think that made us see a dif dr at our next visit. Eh wasnt to fond but not sure why. Last visit was a third dr who was very cold. Not rude but im a ftm i dont want an "its fine dont worry" i want to get explanations. This guy and previous dr give me conflicting statements on bf-ing and how i affect it and it affects baby. Basically said he opposite things. After this visit i have to call as dr suggested i buy something for baby that turns out to need an rx. Office says will call me back after they pull file. Needless to say no call back. Lastly baby has been having rough days and i wanted to know what i could do for pain. I call and recep says dr will call at end of day even gave me a time frame asking if that worked. Again nothing.
To recap three calls no response. Dif answers to same question, being factual and almost cold rather than comforting, and telling me to get something that needs an rx
Do i stick with them saying its so early and all the good things are still there or do i swicth saying its so early i shouldnt have complaints?

Re: Stay or switch
It sounds like you are just really not happy with them. I would switch.

Stay or switch
I would absolutely switch. Not calling back is not acceptable to me. With my office, the receptionist puts me on hold to talk to the dr and give me a response from them immediately. Then if necessary, the doctor will call back to follow up.

Re: Stay or switch
Did you like one dr in particular?
If so, ask for all your appointments with that one: the rest of the team should cover in emergency.
Of course you will get different opinions from different people, as there are no set rules on breast feeding. Pick one person & have that Dr consistently see you.
The way I make an appt with my ped is I call the office and say" I need to make an appt with Dr I. "They tell me she's on vacation. I ask when her next available is when she comes back. They will often ask me to see someone else, i kindly say that i prefer her and will wait. Her practice has 4 drs, I like 2 of them. When my ped retires, I will switch to the other one I like (my kid had an amazing bout of projectile vomiting and we spoke on the phone as she was covering).
The calling back is an issue. If it continues, I'd drop the practice. You shouldn't have to take your kid to the ER because you couldn't speak to the Dr on call. I would bring it up multiple times before I drop though: it may be a secretary or Dr at fault & that should be worked out.
