I used the same OB for #1 and #2. when i waws pregnant with #1, he had a partner. when i had #2, partner had stopped doing OB, only doing gyn (he was older). so basically, OB was a swingle practitioner. he did not make it to #2's delivery- he has cross coverage with another practice, so it wasn't some random on call doc, it was the doc o other practice, but it was a stranger to me. OB missed delivery by about 45 minutes (he was finishing up in office, they had told me what time he would be there, db just wouldn't wait).
other thing- he delivers in LIJ, which has a great NICU, but maternity is not that great.
but, i liked him, everytihg was fine.
so- for #3, when time comes, I am contemplating switching to another gorup, that tons of my friends use, everyone likes. they deliver at North SHore, which i think is nicer too.
also- the group's main office is in Great neck, but they havea second office literally 5-10 minutews from me, but i don't know the hours there, and i don't think they do sonos there, you still go to main office. my old OB is in great neck, about 25 minutes away (i'm on the south shore).

anyhow- would you switch? not sure hwo i feel about OB not making db's birth
