Starting the weaning process. Question about replacing BF
DD is going to be 11 months on Saturday. I'd like to wean by 1 or shortly after. Up until yesterday, we were still doing 4 BFs a day (and 3 full meals), so working on dropping just one for now--the one after her morning nap. I decided to go with a don't offer policy. She isn't trying to nurse. Since it's a little early for lunch, i just offered her a snack. I don't have to replace that missed feed with formula, right? I didn't do that with DD1, but just read a webpage that suggested to do that. I'd assume at 11 months, she'll still get what she needs with 3 BFs. When we fully transition to cow's milk, my doctor likes no more than 16 oz a day, so I'll only be giving it 2-3 times a day, not 4.
Did you replace it with snack or formula?

I used the same technique - don't offer don't refuse. If the baby isn't "asking," than no, you don't need to replace it with formula. If either of my girls woke up hungry, I'd offer a snack. Or cow's milk, if you plan to offer that.

Thanks! Yes, I'll start transitioning to milk toward the middle/end of this month, but probably just in morning and after dinner.
