Starting solids before 6 mos: pros/cons?
DS is 5 months old and I EBF. His ped said I could start rice and oatmeal now but from my search on here I see many of you advise waiting until 6 months before starting solids. Just wondering what the reasoning is as I'm not familiar at all with any of the research regarding this. TIA!

I believe waiting decreases the risk of juvenile diabetes. I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure I have read that.

My kids started around 3 months..
They were making faces like they were trying to eat what their dad and I were eating.. sticking their tongues out and formula was never satisfying enough.. so much that they went from sleeping through the night to waking up for feedings..

My ped. started my dd at 3 months and I'll do the same with ds. I think it depends on the ped and the child. I wouldn't start my ds if he didn't seem like he could use it. He drinks soooo much formula!
