Starting solids
My little man just turned 6 months old and we are starting solids. My dr said start with cereal. He said give him his bottle then about an hour later give him cereal, then fruits veggies etc. my question is, does anybody give before the bottle? He won't eat an hour after. Not even 2 hours after. Also, did you guys keep giving cereal, or did you stop when they got to fruits and veggies? TIA

Re: Starting solids
With my first two, I did rice cereal first then veggies and fruit. With my third, I skipped rice cereal altogether and went straight to mashed avocado, sweet potato and banana. I always nursed first then gave solids up until she was one year. If your dc doesn't eat much, I wouldn't sweat it. It takes time to get acclimated to solids.

Re: Starting solids
with dd 1, at feeding time i used some of that bottle to mix the cereal with, gave cereal (at first plain) then mixed with fruits and veggies, then she finished the bottle to wash it down.
dd2 i do like the way you described b/c that's better for her.
I say try both ways. which ever works works. Don't stress if he doesn't eat the cereal. or his formula intake may go done a bit too.

Starting solids
I would just keep offering or even wait a few days and try again. He may just need to get used to the idea of solids. I always nursed first and then offered food an hour after. It took a week or more for DD to get it and even then some days she just wasn't interested. No big deal as long as they're getting formula or bm since that's still their main source of nutrition.

Re: Starting solids
I always gave the bottle first.............that is way more important than the solids. All their nutrition comes from there, before age 1 the solids are just bonus. I never cared if DD (or DS) finished their solids but I was a stickler for them finishing their bottles.
