starting food questions!
sorry if this is all over the place..
ped gave ok to start food
so we r starting with cereal..said to do that for 4 days..then start a fruit with it
4 days of each fruit..then she said start veggies
here is where i get confused..
so after first bottle we do cereal..then bottle then fruit..or fruit with cereal?
then after we do all the fruits it would be a veggie dinner time?
so in say a few weeks they would be up to all 3 in one day
is that right? also is it the whole jar when we do fruit and veggie?
and do i increase amount of cereal? she said to start with 1 tablespoon
thanks

starting food questions!
Our ped said once she learns how to eat the cereal we can give her whatever we want of the stage 1 foods, no particular order or anything, just to make sure you do 3 days before introducing a new food so you can keep an eye for any reaction...

Also with cereal she said to do with a bottle since you mix it with formula, do like 2 tablespoons of cereal then let her drink the rest of the bottle. So let's say she gets a 8 oz bottle you can use 2 oz to mix the cereal and she can drink the other 6 oz

starting food questions!
G I found when they first wake up, they're thirsty. I gave them half a bottle, then fed 1tbsp oatmeal cereal or rice cereal mixed with warm formula. Then, 4 days later, I added 1tbsp fruit next to the cereal. I fed this at wake up time for breakfast and then again at the dinner feeding. After they eat their solids, they wash it down with the remainder of the bottle. The only reason I give that half bottle first is if I am feeding by myself, they scream their heads off while waiting for a bit of food. If DH is there to feed with me, then we start with the food. I start veggies tomorrow, and I am confused too...

Re: starting food questions!
I didn't start solids until 6 months. With DS1, I moved him to 2 meals per day pretty quickly and then added a 3rd meal around 7.5 months. DS2 wouldn't take solids from me and wouldn't eat much for a while. I didn't move him to 2 meals until at least 7 months and then to 3 meals at 8 months.
I usually add oatmeal to breakfast and sometimes add it to the other meals. As far as how much to give them, it depends on the child. DS2 is almost 9 months old and only started eating 4 oz within the last month. I tend to give fruit earlier in the day and vegetables at night.

Re: starting food questions!
The bottles are still most important for nutrition. I give a bottle first thing in the morning. She still takes a bottle every 3 hours. So somewhere inbetween I give her solids. Usually 9am and 3pm. She eats twice a day.
I started with cereals once a day x 4 days.
Then I started veggies - stage 1 X 4 days.
Then I started fruits - stage 1 x 4 days.
As she tolerated different fruits and veggies I'd mix them. Like apple and oatmeal, peas and rice cereal etc... just feels more like a meal to me but I do still give single veggies and fruits.
I started with small portions and really runny cereals.
I've thickened up the cereals, increased the portions a bit and she gets two "meals" a day.

You will kind of find your own schedule that works.
I started with oatmeal and did it at dinner time. The reason being is that he was in daycare during breakfast and lunchtime and I wanted to be the one to feed him. So he would get his normal bottle schedule and then throw in the oatmeal when we got home from work...630ish.
We only did one meal so we always did dinner. So it would be fuit, veggie and or oatmeal. I didnlt always mix cereal with a fruit/veggie.
We went to 2 meals at 6m and then I did breakfast and dinner. We added in lunch at 9 months.
The thing I had to get used to was that I was thinking breakfast time was cereal and fruit and veggies were afternoon/dinner. But in reality the babies don't care what it is at anytiem of day as long as they get food.
