St. Ives Apricot Scrub

I have been washing my face with St. Ives Apricot Scrub-Blackhead Control and I love the way it makes my face feel afterwards....so nice and smooth! When I mentioned that to a makeup artist..she basically told me that it is harsh on my face and I shouldn't be using that stuff.

What do you guys think of this?

Made me break out like nothing else back in the day, so I would use it on my feet.

I know I am in the minority though...most love it.

I'm with you. It's way too harsh for my skin.

Re: St. Ives Apricot Scrub

How often do you use it?

you SHOULD exfoliate your skin but I would recommend doing it often.. Chat Icon

I never tried the Blackhead Control, but years ago I used to use the original on my face. It was a little too harsh on my face, but since then I've been using it for YEARS in the shower as a body scrub, especially to smooth and even things out before using Jergen's Natural Glow lotion.

Re: St. Ives Apricot Scrub

Well it does say right on the bottle to scrub gently and not use more than once every 3 days. I use it once a week for maybe 7 years now and it still feels great. My skin is so soft and smooth!

To be honest, I didn't read the bottle...but it just leaves me face so nice and smooth..so I use once a day.

I used to use it more often but it did dry out my skin. It might start to have the same effect on yours after awhile. I'd at least try for every other day.

I do use it a little more often when I have my period since I tend to break out.

I use it everday too. It doesn't seem to irritate me, but I don't know if its working as well anymore.
I also use Origins Modern Friction once or twice a week & leaves my skin much smoother.

Re: St. Ives Apricot Scrub

I use it more in the winter than the summer. When I have a tan I wont use it because I feel like I'm going to scrub my tan off. I know, stupid logic!

I always loved it but my dermatologist and my facial lady both freaked out on me for using it so I stopped.

Re: St. Ives Apricot Scrub

I agree w/her. My sis is a plastic surgeon and she said it is horrible for your skin- basically cuts your face w/out you knowing it. She said the said the st. Ives mineral scrub is much better- that is what I use and I love it although I only use it once or twice a wk.

Re: St. Ives Apricot Scrub

I love it and have been using it for years.

I use it only 1 or 2 a week. It's an exfoliator... it's supossed to be "harsh".

Re: St. Ives Apricot Scrub

I love all things St. Ives!

Especially the Apricot Scrub! I've been using it for so long. I was told by a facialist that I shouldn't use it, but my derm told me that once a week is fine - twice a week for me (dry skin) is a no-no.

I think this scrub is way too harsh for the face and definitely not to be used on a daily basis. Chat Icon
