Sprinkle question?
A good friend is having her second baby and we are planning to throw her a little sprinkle at my house. One of our other friends suggested that she register - is this now the norm? I thought sprinkles were purely a nice gesture from friends and family, not a big shebang with registries.

Sprinkle question?
I'm not having a sprinkle, but I registered more or less to keep a record of everything we purchase as well as for my step mom and friends to pick up stuff. I think it's the norm.

Sprinkle question?
I also registered for my own records. I even used a fake name. If anyone wants to get me a little something- Breastfeeding supplies. That's the majority of my registry. Lol I just feel bad to have a party for people to buye things. My last shower was not even 2 years ago.

OK, and totally not to be snarky, then it's basically a shower, no? I kinda thought the difference between a sprinkle and shower was that a sprinkle was more low key and did not have a registry.

Sprinkles are generally less people. Well for me it was just my closest friends and family. My 1st shower was 75 people and my sprinkle was 20 people and we had a brunch at Blue. I liked it much better than my actual shower.

I agree I think sprinkles are just smaller in size. I think it makes more sense to register, if you're going to buy a gift anyway it may as well be something she needs. I don't know if I'll have a sprinkle or not but I will register to get the completion coupon for what I need. Also I think second registries are a lot smaller. I wouldn't register for another bouncy seat, swing, play pen ect. But some new bottles, pacifiers, bibs stuff like that.

I thought the difference between a shower and a sprinkle is less people (only people close to you) and low key. I personally find nothing wrong with registering. Kids can register for birthday gifts these day. If someone is going to buy you something, you might as well let it be something you need or want...like putting together a christmas list or whatnot. It also makes it easier for people to figure out what to buy IMO.

Re: Sprinkle question?
I think she can register for the sprinkle if she wants to, but I wouldn't put registry info on the invites. If guests ask, then I'd give them the info.

the only reason i would tell her to register if if she needed big stuff like if she gave all her stuff away not expecting to have more kids.
if not, then no, ive only been to one sprinkle... and it was all clothes and GCs

Re: Sprinkle question?
My sister just threw me a sprinkle for my fourth! I felt like we shouldn't have done it, but it was just close family and everyone wanted to get the baby something.
We did register because we have so much clothes already thanks to so many generous friends and family who gave us their hand me downs. My youngest is only 3.5, but we still needed some new baby gear. I made sure to keep it inexpensive and we got a lot of stuff we needed.

Sprinkle question?
Thanks for the opinions...since it is a surprise sprinkle, I had hoped to keep it that way. It's going to be about 15-20 people, but I know that some of the guests would be put off if there was a $200 carseat or $400 stroller on the registry! I'm gonna feel the guest of honor out and play it by ear - she hasn't mentioned registering so who knows! I just didn't want one of our other friends outing our surprise.

If she has another kid already, why would she need to register for another stroller? Unless it's a double?

My cousin like an idiot had to get everything new for her last kid bc she left a bunch of crap out in the rain and it got ruined, the rest she just tossed because in her words, she could just have another shower and get more stuff.

Re: Sprinkle question?
I believe the difference is a sprinkle is a smaller party, fewer guests, maybe just a handful of close friends in someone's house. Who cares if she has a registry? It's just a list of things she wants- you don't have to buy her things off it. It's actually made to make it easier for the guests so they have an idea of things she needs, etc.. if you are turned off by the idea of a registry, just get her something that's not on it. Hope you have a good time!!
