SPR... To Move or Stay??
Ok... so DH and I have been going back and forth with this for a while and I can use some advise from you ladies.
Right now I moved into DH's home. It's a cape. We have two bedrooms downstairs and the whole upstairs is our room. DH is in construction so he pretty much re-did the whole thing.
Our bedroom upstairs is huge, but b/c it's a cape it's a lot of wasted space. We have a hallway with a bathroom and small walk-incloset and then the office that was dormored by DH and made into Mason's bedroom.
I am from Central NJ and have been wanting to move back there forever. My family and friends are there. A lot of my friends there have kids his age.
DH has been wanting to move to, but there are things holding us back. Also, DH and his father own a really nice home in Oceanside. less than a year old they built. They're renting it now. My FIL offered it to us at a great price. Nice home... rooms upstairs etc.
Pro for staying on LI -
close to IL's (can also be a con  )
getting a bigger home instead of staying in our cape where we'd have to move with a 2nd anyway
DH will keep working with his father
Cons -
not moving to NJ where I really want to be
getting a bigger home for less b/c it's cheaper there
still being further from my own family
We love our home now, but like I said... we can't have another child here. I work on LI, but we do have an office in NJ.
Sorry so long. Any advise?

What would DH do for work? What are the job prospects in NJ, is he in the city or would he have to go back & forth to LI?
How is the housing market in NJ now?
If NJ is where you ultimately want to wind up, then I'd go for it now while houses are low. I'd hang on to as many houses as you can for investments & sell down the line when prices start to rebound.

DH has a lot of family in NJ. His Aunt offered him a bathroom job if he goes there. Also have to remember he wants to buy an old (fixer-upper) on a big piece of land, which is pretty easy to find in central NJ. He would need about 3 months or so just to work on that. We could stay at my parent's during that time.
My SIL is living with her boyfriend in an apartment so I know they may be interested in buying our house.
I keep telling DH I'd move in a year. I know if I have another kid I may leave my job. So much to think about.

I would say to move. A house is a building. You can make it a home anywhere you and your family are. I believe being close to family is the main objective. Good luck!!

Thanks! Since we have my family and friends I know pple would hire DH for construction. It'll be slow at first, but def pick up.

i agree - i'm here too!
but i think the main thing that you have to ask yourself is, will i be happy anywhere except jersey? if that answer, deep down is NO...then you have your answer...

We are sort of in a similar situation- we are probably going to move back to LI from Putnam County, but to be honest I would rather stay here. But my family is there, as are many of my friends.
It sounds like your heart is in NJ, so that makes it an easier decision.
