SPR: Monkey Bread?
Can I make this without a bundt pan? There is no earthly reason I'd possess a bundt pan....
and I have an 8 year old that is asking about it.

Re: SPR: Monkey Bread?
I don't see any reason why you couldn't make it in a square or rectangular pan...

You should always have a bundt pan on hand so that you can make a cake and put a potted flower in the middle of it. I do that at least every Sun, Wed, Thurs and Friday.

Re: SPR: Monkey Bread?
This recipe calls for a muffin pan.
But it probably takes the fun out of ripping it apart.
Why not just use a round cake pan? I think it would work just fine.

Re: SPR: Monkey Bread?
I was just talking to someone on fb about this last night, there is a from scratch recipe on Smitten Kitchen, she does make it in a bundt pan though. I don't own a bundt pan, so I would probably make it in a loose bottomed cake pan. Smitten Kitchen Monkey Bread

Re: SPR: Monkey Bread?
I've made it without a bundt pan.. just a tall cake pan.. but someone on another thread said they tried it and the bottom burned. It worked fine for me.
I do like the way it looks in a Bundt though. AND they are pretty cheap. Or you can get the throw away bundt tin pans from the grocer.
I think the signs are all there that I need to make monkey bread tomorrow..

Re: SPR: Monkey Bread?
Ok...I'm using DH's ceramic pot with tin foil in the middle.
We'll see how it comes out.
You're right - just like the signs are there that rojoerono needs to make monkey bread tomorrow, the signs are there that i need to buy a bundt pan.
Once I shovel.
Thank you all.. I'll let you know how it turns out.
BTW, Joseph's writing assignment this week was "write something you are most afraid of"...and he actually wrote "I'm afraid of what my mom is cooking for dinner"....lil' sob. It was ribs, cornbread - and when tasted it, he said "Mom, this tastes just like the first ribs I tasted that got me into being a rib guy" That's right little boy - be afraid, be very afraid.
