Anyone make monkey bread?

I'm in charge of monkey bread for my nephew's birthday brunch this weekend.

I do not have a bundt pan. Have you ever made it not in a boondt (sorry, I cannot say bundt without saying boondt from My Big Fat Greek Weeding)?

I was thinking of baking it in my glass batter bowl to get a dome shape. Would that work or give me a raw center? Or should I try to pick up a bundt?

I've made monkey bread in all sorts of pans. As long as you ball the dough so that it pulls apart into pieces it shouldn't make a bit of difference except for the presentation.

Now I want Monkey Bread..

We are BIG monkey bread makers :) I've never used anything but a bundt pan but I'm sure it would work in something else might just look different! We actually bought mini bundt pans and cut the dough into smaller pieces and had our own personal monkey breads...SOOO awesome!!

It's canned biscuits cut in half or quarters, shaken/coated in sugar and cinnamon, placed in pan, bundt or otherwise, then pour over a mixture of brown sugar and butter and bake. When you invert it, it's a gooey pull apart heap of yum!

My SIL makes it with 4 cans of the small biscuits, not the grands and does not add nuts or raisins. I have only had hers and it's awesome!

Yum! Just watched the video and I cannot wait to make it much less eat it!

I'm totally making it for DS' first Birthday that I'm thinking of doing a sock monkey theme!!!

Grands!® Monkey Bread There's no monkey business involved in making this cinnamon-scented pull-apart.
Prep Time: 25 Min
Total Time: 1 Hr 5 Min
Makes: 12 servings

INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
2 cans (16.3 oz each) Pillsbury® Grands!® Homestyle refrigerated buttermilk biscuits
1/2 cup chopped walnuts, if desired
1/2 cup raisins, if desired
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted

User Rating: DIRECTIONS:
1. Heat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease 12-cup fluted tube pan with shortening or cooking spray. In large -storage plastic food bag, mix granulated sugar and cinnamon.
2. Separate dough into 16 biscuits; cut each into quarters. Shake in bag to coat. Arrange in pan, adding walnuts and raisins among the biscuit pieces.
3. In small bowl, mix brown sugar and butter; pour over biscuit pieces.
4. Bake 28 to 32 minutes or until golden brown and no longer doughy in center. Cool in pan 10 minutes. Turn upside down onto serving plate; pull apart to serve. Serve warm.

I have tried in a regular pan and it does not work (for me anyhow) I would pick up a bundt ( boondt ) pan! Good Luck!

My favorite cooking blog just posted a recipe for this - www.smittenkitchen.com - but I think this is a make-from-scratch version. I will have to try the Grands version!

I don't have a bundt pan, so I made the recipe in two loaf pans (I used loaf pans so that the depth would be somewhat similar, unlike a shallow cake pan). It worked fine, but I think a bundt pan looks prettier. Although once you start pulling it apart, looks don't really matter!
