Spitting Up...

HELP!
Poor Alexandra has been spitting up all day today- after each feeding. It's usually about a tablespoon or so. I am concerned b/c she's never really spit up before, and I heard that BF babies spit up less.
Could it be that I ate Lasagna (maybe the sauce?) last night & the night before? She was VERY fussy last night & all day today.Chat Icon
I just want to give her some relief.

Should I be concerned?
TIA.

Re: Spitting Up...

a tablespoon doesn't seem like too much. i wouldn't be concerned unless she's not soiling any diapers. however, the sauce may have had an effect on her...someone posted a thread earlier with a list of foods that may cause fussiness/gas. Chat Icon

I wouldn't be worried about the quantity at all. Just see if it becomes continuous and if she becomes fussy at feeds. That could be a sign of reflux.
I would definitely cut out the lasagna if this seems out of the ordinary for her. The tomato sauce and lots of cheese could be bothering her.

Only worry if she throws up her ENTIRE feeding everytime she eats or is projectile vomiting....spitting up that shoots across the room not dribbles down your shirt or down her front.

Some babies, like my Kevin, are just heavy spitters. He's 6 months and still spitting up a bunch.

Re: Spitting Up...

I've noticed that what I eats affects Alex's spitting up... namely, tomatoes and dairy. Once I cut those out, she's fine. You may want to experiment a little with what you're eating...

Re: Spitting Up...

When I BF'd I had to cut out tomato sauce - it would make Talia spit up like crazy.
