Spit up with blood in it- is this ok?!?!

My 2 month old is breastfed and just now his spit up has some bright red blood and dark red blood in it Chat Icon

I am trying not to freak out but is this normal??
It has never happened before. We just had a crazy BFing session for probably 2 hours straight and he was really starting to hurt my nipple's b/c how long it was (don't know if that's related?)

I also had a clogged duct a couple of days ago but it has been gone for at least a day now...

I tried googling it lol but I don't see any helpful info, I am waiting for a call back from my Dr. but any help advice etc would be great

Thanks Chat Icon

It's more than likely your blood (bleeding nips). I wouldn't worry too much. You did the right thing calling the doc. Chat Icon

maybe 10 minutes..

My mom thinks its from the clogged duct I had the other day, it was very bad.

I agree. I went through this with DD when she was about a week old. After an ordeal and ridiculous tests at the hospital it was concluded it was my blood from broken capillaries. What a freaking nightmare.

Yeah the Dr does not seem too concerned, said it most likely came from me.

DS is completely content right now so I guess its just a freak thing that happens. Weird!

Ahh the joys of breastfeeding Chat Icon
